Default Are there not enough?...

Education.

I just talk to a guy who bought a 40 gig PS3, and he said. "Why did Sony give me this movie? (Spiderman 3 Blu-ray) I tried playing it on my DVD player and it didn't work. Why give a movie that can't be played?"

So I told him that it's Blu-ray, of course it wont play on your DVD player.

Then the guy said. "What's a Blu-ray?"

Seriously, are alot of other people out there as uneducated as this? Or is it only this guy?

When I told him what Blu-ray was, he continue to say. "Why did Sony give this with a PS3 when PS3 is just a game system."

He couldn't figure it out until I told him that Blu-ray movie can be play on a PS3 and that PS3 itself can be consider a Blu-ray player.

People like this makes me wonder, don't they read?

On the cover it CLEARLY says. "Play this Blu-ray movie on your PS3!"

Now I would say this guy is stupid, but for the masses out there who still don't know what a Blu-ray is, and its connection with the PS3, are there not enough education going on out there??

Must the BDA/Sony PS3 camp open a school for these things?

You guys got any similar story to share?

Life Lesson Number 1:

People don't read things that are put in front of them.

I still can barely believe people buy a PS3 and not know it's a Blu-ray Player. I think Sony should just nicely spam their users with this information.

On a slightly related note - when you sign up for the PSN, it asks what my main reason for buying was. I thin the first option was to play Blu-ray and that's what I picked

Crazy stuff, I know. But all you have to do is talk to someone who works at Best Buy to realize how uneducated people are about electronics (Hope you get that ).

What was he planning to do with his PS3, play Xbox games on it? No wait, he probably tried to jam a floppy disk into the drive didn't he? Yeah, if you're buying a PS3, you are a moron if you cannot read the box, or the box of any game that you purchase for it. You don't deserve to own a PS3 if you don't know what it is for.

I have ZERO patience for stupid people. None.

Example - I go to a drive through and get a drink. I specifically say the following..

ME: Hi, can I get a medium Dr. Pepper - NO ICE.
Server: One Dr. Pepper ?
ME: Medium, NO ICE.
Server: Medium Dr. Pepper - $2.19 - drive around
ME: NO ICE please.

I drive around. Just take a wild guess at what drink they hand me. Dr. Pepper WITH ICE!

Every damn time. I don't get it.

Heh, yeah, everytime I go through a drivethrough, I don't even both anymore with repeating stuff. I just calmly go through my bag and check to make sure all my stuff is what I ordered, and I don't care if they are annoyed about it. Half of the time, something i screwed up and I need to have them fix the order anyways.

Yeah, I guess there are alot of dumb people out there, buying into something they have ZERO knowledge of.

I do try my best to educate as much as I can, whoever I come across that have question, if I have the answer, I would help them out. But now I think I'm getting to the point where I'm tired of it. LoL

Next time, if I meet another person like this, I'll just tell them. "PLEASE do your homework. PLEASE."

I really wish sony would do a little more for what they have vested in the format.

I absolutely love watching the disney BD ads on Discovery HD. Aside from the fact that they must run them every commercial break, they always mention to watch on your blu-ray player or ps3 system.

I sure don't think sony is doing enough in making the masses aware that the ps3 plays blu-ray. Sure, they write it all over the discs and it's mentioned on the box, but people need to be told this, and they need to watch it on tv. Your common ilk joe southern usa isn't much for the reading, but put a ps3/blu-ray ad during a nascar event.... money in the bank!

(I mean no disrespect in singling out such a demographic, and acknowledge that some of best blu supporters on this site may belong to a selection of that population)

there's way too much arrogance in this thread

the assocation of "playstation" with "videogames" is something sony has established over the past 10 years. don't be asses and call j6p stupid for that.

if anyone's stupid it's sony. blu-ray delayed the playstation3 and increased its production costs, both of which are heavily contributing to its dismal performace compared to xbox360. for something sony has invested so much in you'd think they would make this feature loud and clear but they haven't.

sony is basically throwing away the money invested into blu-ray by not marketing correctly.

blame sony advertising

Well that's what the thread was about, I was asking are there "not enough" education going on out there. I mean, yeah it's Sony fault if they didn't educate people enough through ads.

But that guy who ask me. "What's a Blu-ray?"
That has nothing to do with Sony, it seems the mass isn't educated enough with this. I'm guessing it's because this whole Hi-def deal is too new for the majority of people.

That's all I was asking, if there are enough education out there, or should there be more being put into the market. I didn't meant to insult anyone.

Hmm, I suppose you hate your parents for how they treated you when you were a child as well right? I also will garner a guess that you don't think Global Warming is real either and Santa does not exist?

Yeah, it's all Sony's fault that people don't read and figure out what they are spending their money on. Who actually buys a TV, Movie player, Computer or the like without research?

Anyone that does not read and blind buys - well - is an idiot

Am I on the AVS board?

That's usually where Blu owners are referred to as "arrogant" and "elitist".
