Me, my wife, and my two kids watched all three movies on Christmas eve. I found it for 20 bucks, brand new, at a pawn shop. Really outstanding restorations, and I forgot how perfect the second movie is.

I got the set for Christmas!! Have to wait to go back home to watch them though :'-( I dont think the cases are that bad but I understand the frustration. Why even change the cases in the first place, ya know?! So stoked to watch them!!!!

I skimmed over the second movie just to see the quality. The first and third one are my favorites.

Oh shit! You should watch the second one soon. The manufacturer made it so that you only have a limited amount of time to watch BTTF2 after viewing (putting in) the first one.

You see they implanted a “clock” (for lack of a better term) into the T.O.C. (Table Of Contents) on all three discs that creates a “count down/timer” within your Blu-ray player that is triggered as soon as you put in BTTF1. If you don't put BTTF2 in soon, it won't work.

By putting in BTTF1, you initiated the “count down”. I think you have two weeks to put in BTTF2 and BTT3. As long as you put them in this week, it will undo the “countdown”. You don’t want to render your BTTF2 useless, do you?
Hurry and put it in.

Let's just be clear here... there were no restorations. They took an older 2k scan, and for the first film they applied edge enhancement (grain was still very much left intact... but there WAS some unfortunate DNR at times, especially close-up shots), and for the second and third films, they slathered them with DNR.

Better than DVD? By far. But is the benchmark for Blu-ray 'better than DVD'? Not by a longshot.

If Universal releases another version in the future with a better case and it happens to be more of a collectible case, i would dish out the money for it. I was one that was hoping for more (case wise)

Packaging doesn't get better over time, it gets downgraded: inserts missing, etc. Universal has already revised the packaging to provide more traditional disc holders instead of the crazy "slide down" system that they originally used. I suspect at some point, they'll release each movie separately in standard plastic Blu-ray packaging, probably without the digital copy.

Okay, see if someone can answer this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/BACK-TO-THE-FUTU...42703688540342

Someone asked the seller a question on that listing saying that this Delorean Edition is rare because Universal didn't like the way the model of the Delorean came out, so they junked the idea. Yet France still received this edition. So, is that true about the idea being junked? And if so, does that mean this is rare, more so than the UK tin? Or is the UK tin the one that's the rarest?

In another listing for the Delorean Edition, it shows a picture of this:

Now obviously you get more in the UK tin, but would this picture apply to the listing I posted above? I was under the assumption there was only ONE Delorean Edition, and that was from France.

first time poster, long time lurker. EXCELLENT SITE and great message board.

Just picked up the trilogy (38.99 - bought it from best buy.com and had it to pick up from local store same day) and, my lord, the packaging. I would imagine there is user acceptance testing of some sort with unorthodox packaging. I had already broken one of the little tabs at the bottom before figuring out how to extract the disc. Easily the worst media packaging that I've dealt with.

the BD themselves - thumbs up so far - the audio is fantastic and the video just enough grain to remind you that it is a 25 year old movie.

Still kind of upset that Universal QUICKLY changed their awful packaging, yet aren't offering a replacement program for all the loyal buyers who got it the first few weeks. I mean, they replaced Their awful Battlestar Galactica packaging.... they owe it to all the customers to get on this.
