What mediocre release would that be?

The original US release by Tartan Video and the Trilogy release by Palisades Tartan (that doesn't even have lossless audio).

Nothing wrong with the original US release.

The transfer is lacking. Especially in comparison to the releases of Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance.

Nothing lacking about it.

It looks closest to the original Starmax DVD, colour wise, etc.
Before people whined about how it looked and they f**ked around with the colours and contrast.

That's the one the director himself was happiest with, even though Starmax tried to spin some sh*t about him approving the Korean Ultimate Edition transfer. He'd no say in the matter at all.

The original U.S. release was awesome. I don't know what you're talking about. I remember the release that came with the Vengeance Trilogy coming with only 2.0 audio. That was a huge problem...the original US release was an essential buy though. The transfer was excellent.

The new Canadian release of the Vengeance Trilogy includes the DTS MA track on Oldboy. Other than that however, it's still the same "mediocre" release as the old Tartan U.S. disc.

Apparently, this release came out back in October the 21st of this year yet there are no reviews about it whatsoever, whether it be from review sites or from blu-ray forums. Given the botched lossy audio of the U.S. blu, you'd think someone here would've taken the plunge on this release. Is there anyone out there that has a copy of this release on their hands that they can shed some information about?
