I bought my PS3 mainly for movies and I don't think it's inconvenient to use at all.Even if you didn't have a remote for it the controllers are wireless anyway

Default If you're watching the display on the player........

then your priorities are out of whack.

The remote will take care of any "control" problems and the on screen display is far superior to reading it off the screen of a player.

The PS3 (w/BD Remote) is better to watch movies with than any DVD player I've ever owned.

i bought the PS3 mainly for games. and i use it... mainly for games.
But still, i buy lots of movies. i used to use the controller... and honestly, its simple to use.

I bought myself a BD remote simply cause it was 29.99. Why not? Its blue-tooth!

Anyway. i still use the controller for playback of videos running off the HDD, simply cause i can never bother reaching my WHOLE ARM over to the table to grab the remote. Too much exersize, you know?

yeah. point is- controller works fine. but if you hate it THAT much, just go buy the remote... not like they're expensive. :/

It's actually quite convenient to use as a Blu Ray player, even using the controller. I actually find it easier using the controller than a remote. Also when watching DVDs its got a pretty good upscaler too. Oh and it plays games too :P

Get the PS3, you won't regret it.

It is the best video player I've ever owned. It may take a day or two to get used to but it is in no way inconvenient. I highly suggest buying the BD remote.

I still use my controller and it works fine. I have looked into getting the remote, but for some reason I havent bought it yet. Maybe I will buy tomorrow when I get off work. People on this forum seem to like it very much. But I love my PS3. It has really exceeded my expectations. And the crazy thing about it is that it can be upgraded so it will only get better. I am happy that I took that dive into Blu.
