well those listings say Vivendi so that wouldn't be a public domain release.

Hey, that's great news, 4 spaghetti westerns coming soon to blu-ray. The price dropped to $10.50 CAD as well. Guess I'll have to pre-order at those prices.

I didn't think Django was a PD title.

Does anyone know anything about the region coding on these discs? I really want to see Django in HD.

I never got round to picking up the Blue Underground blu of Django but I will give this a spin if it looks good. Any info on PQ, content etc....?

I almost pre-ordered this, but because my recent spendings on BDs I figured I'm good with my BU version of Django, and even if it have some artificial over the top grain, it looks wonderful at many times.

Very interested though, to see how this new release of Django compares to the old BU version!

Waiting for some PQ reviews before I jump. Also hoping for a decent Crater Lake Monster/Galaxina double bill.

BU are claiming this is an unauthorised release (although they said that about Shriek Show's Zombie DVD years ago, and that was never resolved). I've pre-ordered but I'm not sure if this will ever see the light of day if legal proceedings are involved. I'm cerainly curious to see what it looks like, I'm wondering if they've lifted it straight form the BU disc or if it's a new transfer (one without false grain would be nice).

Is anyone else having the problem with audio sync? It's completely out of sync. A second or more after 20min into the movie.

Earlier today, I watched my Mill Creek Blu-ray of The Grand Duel.

Lee Van Cleef, who starred in For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, remained in Italy for a few years to capitalize on his success, and he was featured in several more spaghetti westerns. The Grand Duel stars Lee Van Cleef as a fast-on-the-draw sheriff who takes it upon himself to beat a team of bounty hunters to a man who is wanted for murder. As he protects the targeted man from the others, and as the guilt of this man comes into question, the sheriff reveals that he knows the true identity of the murderer. Mystery, intrigue, and a few killer shootouts ensue.

The Grand Duel has quite a haphazard feel to it, and it actually exudes the vibe of a late 1970s/early 1980s television action drama, in that it seems somewhat more light-hearted at first glance than many of the other spaghetti westerns. That said, it does feature a rather incredible music score, courtesy of Sergio Bardotti.

This Mill Creek Blu-ray is top-notch in terms of video quality, and it's a great presentation altogether, even if the sound quality does not come close to matching step for step. The dubbing got on my nerves pretty badly, but that's the only option available here, sadly.

Question for the experts...

The Internet Movie Database states that The Grand Duel is 98 minutes long, but the Blu-ray clocks in at almost 94 minutes. Is this a cut version on the disc?
