How can it be funny when it is so far removed from anything resembling reality in terms of actual marriages? The blowing things up was fine; I enjoy that as much as anybody else, but nobody explained to me that I was going to be watching something so utterly far-fetched.

A "comedic play on how couples sometimes drift apart and don't really understand each other" would need to be based on people who have actually lived with each other and, apart from their off-screen relationship, these people obviously haven't done that.
