I don't think it would help to much with Dark Knight. The Blu-ray format is to niche to effect box office sales or new release DVD sales. I don't buy this reasoning.

I agree with you completely. If Blu-ray players were in far more American homes than currently, it would be different. BB is the kind of film that, when it does come to Blu, it'll sell better than most catalog titles Warner has more recently released, and I don't see them waiting six more months to release it in Blu.

So I was at Best Buy today and they had a Blu-ray of Batman Begins playing. I thought it was a commercial first so i waited for it to end but it just kept goin, it was the full tumbler chase scene. I made the salesperson open up the case and show me what was inside because the scene just wouldnt end. It turned out to just be a demo but damn, it was at least 5 min long and it looked spectacular.

Probably just a rumor though.
I have heard the same, I also have heard of the matrix being mentioned in this discussion

I would hate to have to wait till Dark Knight comes out till we get Batman Begins. Hopefully they will release it in the spring.

I am also hoping that they decide to really hype up the release with a Batman box set. if so...Sign me up!

Definite buy for me. Can't wait to see the dark knight when it comes out.
I hope they do a full on blu-ray version of Batman Begins uncompressed audio and what not.

Well, it's a different situation for the other titles. Releases without IME (Blood Diamond, 300, etc) were all day-and-date releases with the DVD, so there's a great incentive to just release without the IME rather than wait until 1.1 is ready and lose a huge chunk of sales. Batman, Matrix, V are all catalog titles, and so there's minimal impact to sales by releasing it in 2008 with IME.

With that said, I've been dying to have Batman in blu-ray. I'm also sort of angry that Warner's releasing T3 with a non-1.1 PiP commentary via seamless branching this month... if they're not even going to use the 1.1 profile then why delay all these titles in the first place?? Just burn the IME into Batman, use seamless branching, and release the damn title already... grrr...

Who's to say WB didn't sign a contract to release certain titles for $$$ exclusively on HD-DVD? An 18 month contract would take BB to a release date of around May just in time for TDK.

Yes,

Though it's hard to say which Batman film I like better Batman Begins or the old Adam West Batman.

Neither can compete with Batman Returns which is my favorite.

U know it's ALWAYS going to be about the money/buyout/sellout. Batman Begins is a MUST BUY title. Especially comparing it to the other garbage Batman movies with Clooney for example, although i don't think the Michael Keaton Batman 1 was as bad as the rest of them. That first one was actually the best of them all too me. NOT INCLUDING BATman Begins ofcourse

Whatever happened to the Batman Beyond with Keana Reeves? Was that a rumor or the real deal?

I think either profile 1.1 or 2.0 would have to be out before they release them. Since 1.1 is now officially out, it may only be a matter of time. I also suspect to see updates that support profile 2.0 in January since they are now adding these features as well.

if we get Batman Begins, Caddyshack, and The Matrix Hd-dvd wont have another reason to criticize Blu-Ray. i mean now we got picture in picture which they think is the greatest thing and they criticized us for not having it and now we do have it plus with warner and their select blu-ray movies Hd-dvd has that we dont have as soon as they go to Blu-Ray with better quality well lets just say Hd-Dvd will run out of ideas of stuff they have that we dont have yet
