I was looking at this website http://www.USPlastic.com and they have quite a few option for replacement Blu cases. Single disc, double disc, 3,4,5 or 6 disc cases and priced real nice from .45 cents to $1.40.

I ordered a replacement case from http://www.diskdepot.co.uk. They advertise the case as genuine Amaray and the picture seems to depict an Amaray case. The case I recieved however was very cheap and tacky looking. It closes but not tight. It's loose.

Can somebody confirm that Amaray cases (11mm) have silver logos (embossed?) and 'Amaray' written on the inside? This case has neither. The Blu-Ray logo on the front isn't embossed but just kind of etched and it's not silver but just left standard case colour.

Vortex cases are made by AGI Amaray. They're one of the two (Vivas being the other) that are used in the US. The Vortex blue cases are typically 11mm whereas the Amarays, commonly used in the UK, are 14mm cases.

I'm not sure what type of case is used for the clear Blu-ray 3D cases.

In the US, they're definitely Vortex cases, just clear. But the picture Unforg1ven posted has the rating logos, so I assume UK. In that case, I'm almost certain it's an Amaray case. But regardless, not sure where to get a clear case.

By the way, the first Viva clear case looks to be SAW 3D/VII/FC.

You can now buy clear PS3 cases from a few sites online. They also have clear cases exactly like or very similar to the PS3 cases but with the Blu-ray logo instead of the Playstation 3 verbiage. The ones I've seen are either Amaray or generic cases however they're 14mm thick. I haven't seen 11mm or 12.5mm clear replacement cases yet.

Would somebody be able to tell me if the case in the following images is genuine Amaray 11mm case?

I've received this case from two different sites:

http://www.diskdepot.co.uk
uksales4all (ebay store)

They advertise them as genuine Amaray and even include photos of what appears to be genuine Amaray cases. The case in the pics above look nothing like the one the above sites have a photo of.

Not sure if those are official Amaray cases; do they say Amaray on them. The hub on those cases is similar to the hub which AGI Amaray sometimes uses for it's smaller 11mm cases but they have several different types that they use in their packaging. The more traditional (ying yang like) Amaray hub found on 14mm cases would be a bit too tall for the 11mm. AGI Amaray also makes the 11mm Vortex which yours are not.

UKSales4All is showing some other type of case in it's picture (generic case) even though the auction state Amaray.

DiskDepot is showing the standard 14mm Amaray case in the 11mm Amaray listing.

The hub on your cases look just like this one:

http://www.amaray.com/cases_vortex_11mm.asp

Here's a better picture. The center of the hub is a triangle; your's are more round.

Thanks for your reply. It doesn't say Amaray anywhere on the case I've got. My US copy of First Blood has a Viva Elite case. It's very sturdy. I can't find anybody who sells them in the UK though. It's to replace the case on Trading Places. It came broken and looked like a very cheap case.

The best advice I can give is -
Take it back where you got it from and ask for an exchange to a better case
Contact the studio that released it and ask them to send you a new case

7-disc Viva Elite cases are not available anywhere for purchase at this time to my knowledge. If I see 4-, 7-, 8-, 9-, or 10-disc Viva Elites for sale I'll be sure to post here. I'd appreciate anyone else doing the same!

I haven't been able to find out who manufacturers those cases but my gut says they're generic cases. You'll also notice the molded Blu-ray logo which is usually indicative of generic cases. Are there any patent (pending) numbers on the case, I'm guessing not?

AGI Amaray manufacturers two types of Blu-ray cases; (1) the standard 14mm Amaray case typically found in the UK and (2) the Vortex cases typically found in the US (AGI Amaray acquired these cases from MeadWestVaco). Both types of cases have embossed silver blu-ray logos.

Just wondering if anyone can help me out with Hot Rod?

I need a replacement case since it came from a Blockbuster DVD case.

What brand does Paramount use for blu-rays in 2008? Elite or Viva?

Thanks

You mean Viva Elite or Vortex, lol.

Paramount uses Viva Elite.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-5-VIVA-Elite...item1c152c4d94

Cheaper to buy at least 5. It's always good to have extras too.

Quick tip: Sometimes if you search the title on eBay or Amazon, there are pictures of the actual Blu-ray, and they show what case they're in. I say sometimes because usually stock pictures are used, OR the seller used their own case. But if you see a good 2 or 3 auctions with the same title in the same case, chances are that's the one. Either that, or search other titles by the same studio. But yeah, Paramount is Viva.

Odd, I just ordered 1 2 disc Viva Elite and shipping was only 1.50. I also just received my second order from them, 10 Viva Elites with Expedited Shipping for 7.

Ended up taking some pics

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Shoot Em Up and Assassination Of Jesse James were replacement cases since my current cases were broken on the inside.(The button that you push to get the disc out was all cracked up, so it barely held the disc in place).

Zach and Miri was a swap since The Weinstein Company always uses Viva Elites and for some reason mine came in a Vortex.

In The Loop and House of the Devil just looked better in Viva Elites, which I was I switched them out. Saw II for some reason came in a Vortex when I bought it a few Black Friday's ago.

Hot Rod was purchased from Blockbuster, so I needed a replacement case. Saw and Reservoir Dogs were both in Vortex as well from a Black Friday purchase. Now all my Lionsgate titles match with Viva Elites!
