Yep! A good friend of mine taught me nothing beats the real thing. I even scanned my old black leather jacket to use for a Godfather cover. LOL

I'm a 3G graphics artist so making your own textures from scanned images or photos is a very important process in passing things of as believable. What Darthvong Is doing makes perfect sense to me, and it shows in the quality of his work.

Thank you for the compliment. Here's the finished Thing custom. I had a request for a "bloody" version so I make 2 covers.

Oh I completely agree, I was just saying that I would have NEVER thought about using a scanned image of a cookie sheet... shows my creativity died with pencil art and acrylics on canvas... thinking about a scanning a leather jacket or cookie sheet for use in backgrounds of something like this seems like something out of a Guinness commercial, "BRILLIANT!" ha ha... hope someone other than me gets that or I will feel like an idiot

those are very very nice... I like lots... have you thought about doing individual cases for Year 7 parts 1 & 2? I'm just curious...

Considered this yes, but not something i am interested in doing, i prefer to think of the films as the books so to have eight films instead of seven would be wrong to me, but im sure there will be someone who will eventually do this when they get released.

Personally, I don't care for the style (I prefer the painted posters era, like the first Potter), but you did a really good job on these covers.
I agree that the original painted style is nice however i have not come across any body who has produced similar artwork for the rest of the films in the series, maybe one day i will attempt to do some myself as that would make the serious remenisant of the star wars trilogy posters used on the classic vhs cases which i love.
I just purchased a Harry potter Book that has lots of memorabilia pullouts, which could be used to do some very stylistic covers also, but as this is my third attempt at harry potter i think i may move onto something else for a bit

I can see that, I'm more of a purist with my blu's so I dont like combining movies into one case. I guess I'm OCD and not a purist, but I digress. Just wondering what you thought about it. Anyway, excellent job on the covers... Tommy likey, Tommy want wingy.

Still tweaking the back, but I'm pretty happy with the front and the TT so far.

As you should be... that looks WICKED cool... and I bet by the time its finished its gonna be NIIIIIICE...

I like your SAW covers too. Made me think, have you tried your hand at 30 Days of Night, Silent Hill, or maybe some of the Alien covers. With your talent I would love to see what you could come up with at one of those.

Keep up the good work!

I did make a set of Alien covers for the Quad set a few years ago. I have a few ideas for making a matching set for the whole Alien/Predator collection eventually. Never tried the other films (Silent Hill, 30 Days) though.

How do you go about making the spec box on the back, and where does the info come from for the credits. Also, what fonts are used for the specs and for the credits?

The font I now use for the credits is called Universal Accreditation. Google it and you'll find it. You can also use SteelTongs (again, google it). Both are freely available.

I use the rectangle tool in pen mode and then do a 'stroke' on the rectangle lines of about 5-6 px, at about 95-100% hardness* to make the specs box. Make sure to make a new layer first.

*Jesus, that sounded filthy.
There seems to be a change in the thickness of the letters in the credits on the parts where the words get smaller, how would i do this also?

Has anyone made a cover for The Social Network yet, my friend borrowed the box and accidentally sat on it and crushed it. Thanks!
Someone threw one up a week or two ago, there is also an ongoing contest on another site which has it as one of the potential titles to choose.
