This is a American Classic and i think due to MGM's financial problems it's a Criterion release. And it's a Movie shot by the great James Wong Howe. I think the first of his to receive a Blu-ray release. Multiple Viewings is the second name of this Movie.

Frickin' B&N...

I usually love that store, and I rarely use them for shipping since I live close to one, but the Jan releases were priced rather nicely before they were released. Add in the B2G1 free deal, and it was a no-brainer.

I got my copies of Army of Shadows (delayed 1 week) and Robinson Crusoe, along with a third title, non CC.

I just received a notice of delay for the 2 Fuller films...up to 30-days! Broadcast News is "in-transit" I guess, so I should get that soon. But up to 30 days for the ones I really wanted to see first...

Oh well, I still have my health.

Oh yes, I forgot about that, I guess there's a good chance it'll be next then.

I really hope you're not. I hate it when films, versions and restorations are only properly accessible through special screenings.

I was just wondering if anyone knew when the next Barnes and Noble's 50%-off Criterion sale will be. Does it usually hit a routine set of days, or is it more random than that? Just curious as to whether I should take more advantage of the B2G1 or hold out for a bit. Thanks!

B2G1 sale: January and June

Criterion 50% off: July and November

I spoke to my cashier friend this weekend, and she said B&N is doing another big sale this month (Feb) with "award winning movies". I am assuming it is a tie-in to the Oscars...duh. She didn't go into specifics, but she said there'd be a section of 'em.

Also, she told me they usually get a memo or something a week before the new sale starts since the registers will have to have all the pricing info downloaded in the system, so, you could always find a trustworthy source at the store and find out from them about upcoming sales.

It's worth the bother once in a while. Amazon certainly has its problems sometimes. As do other online vendors.

According to UPS, my copy is sitting outside my house in the cold snow while I'm 40 minutes away at work. I won't be able to rescue it until, at least, another five hours. I love how the title is actually "backordered" on Criterion's own site. I don't know if that speaks for the popularity of the title or if it has anything to do with the initial pressing.

I got my copy of The Double Life of Veronique this morning too. Amazon shipped it via a courier called LaserShip, but fortunately it showed up. I'm not sure why they wait until the last minute to ship a preorder with Prime so that it must be sent overnight.

I know it's not Criterion but folks in this thread like art house films so...

Has anyone seen SOMEWHERE yet?

I saw it yesterday and loved it.

Really? Someone else on here (might have been you!) a few weeks ago said something about a supposed Criterion February sale. Of course, there was no other info attached to that comment.

On another note, Borders said they shipped my "Veronique" out on the 28th via FedEx. Hopefully, I'll have it by tomorrow!

CC
Mine is "Out For Delivery" right now...

I decided last week that I wanted something "new", since I'm still waiting on Ozus from Amazon UK and wanted to take advantage of Prime while I still have it.

That and the $24.99 price seemed fair enough to justify a purchase.

I hope Amarcord's included in this upcoming sale then.

If anyone is interested, this is a pretty great article about Tati from Jonathan Rosenbaum's website. Makes me wish the full version of Playtime still existed. Also makes me wish I had picked up a copy of Playtime when I was at Barnes and Noble last week.
