I love my audio too. Esp in HT, but Im big into music also. my system will be changing in a way that is more towards music, but HT will always be first. Im just a movie buff, but I have to have music, and a good amount of it too, so having a system that performs at both is the most important to me.

I have heard the X36, its a very good speaker, but I have read several reviews that its probably not the best speaker in the Excite line. Even my dealer said the X36 has more output and slam, but he likes the X32 the best of the Excites and the X16s are his next favorite.

I have not heard the DM series, my dealer doesn't stock them, but reviews of the DMs and talking with my dealer and the guy yesterday who had just bought them they have a good reputation. I think the DM 2/10s you would find to be a very good speaker, esp at that price.

That confirms what I said and read about the X36, X32 blew me away Steve .

Sorry for posting this here but I have to plug my speakers too. Amazing deal, even if Steve does not like their boxy look, those sound unbelivable and at this price it's almost a no brainer.

don't get me wrong the X36 is an awesome speaker, it does do more then the X32 does, but I think it seems lacking for the price when Dynaudio also sells the Focus 220 MKII for the same price, and also considering all that you get with the X32 for the price. I think its more that people feel that what you get for the price of the X12, X16, and X32 is phenominal, that the X36 leaves a little on the table. Im not sure if that is deliberate of Dyn so that people will move into the Focus line at that point or not.

Perhaps Rhett will step into this convo tomorrow with a little more insite.

I would take the Focus 220 MK2 over the X36 hands down even if I did not hear it, just based on what I heard of Totem Model One I think the Focus 220 MK2 will be just as great, I want to listen to them.

well imagine the driver tech that you heard on the Model One matched with the tweeter tech that you heard on the Excites. As you can tell, you would have one amazing speaker. And it is affordable for the most part.

yes he does, you have to spend double.... typical of most dealers from what I gather. The Excites are amazing and I love them. Now I just need proper amplification to get the most out of them.

My sales guy is getting his tax return already in a week or two, so I may be selling my receiver to him. That will give me $150 towards the new receiver, and Ill have my tax return soon also, plus sales are up, so that may help me get to my receiver faster.

That's good news, getting some quality amplification will really make those Dyn's sing. I think you'll really like Audyssey for movies too, I'm finding that it's quite a step up from the MCACC I was using before. For music I still run Pure Direct though, I'm really hoping the universal player I bought will be much better for two channel. Right now I just have a Panasonic bdp and PS3 to use downstairs and they aren't very good. Does the 7.9 sound the same as the 40.2?

I have not actually heard the 7.9, but from what I gather the integra X.8/X.9 lines are from when Integra operated independently from Onkyo. It wasn't until the X0.2 lines that Onkyo started to sound like the Integras. I always felt the Onkyos were harsh, but the 50.1 and 50.2 sound more musical, but not as warm as NAD.

I have an appt with a Dynaudio dealer for sat. I talked with him today. Was glad to find one in my area. Got to hear what all the fuss is about. I am going to compile a nice cd for the audition. I cant wait.

Whats the budget agian? about $1000-1200?

use good music, Dyns will make crap sound like crap, and make good sound good. They are very revealing and honest speakers.

Yeah this is for the the 2 channel. Budget is 1000-1500 possibly.

I will have a cd from classical, to the eagles, to herbie hancock and christina aguilera duet a song for you( she is amazing on that song). Eva cassidy, to norah jones, to some mariah carey. I will have a couple of movie themes like the one from armageddon. The female vocalist is what I really want to here.

OK,

I would suggest that you listen to the DM series if they have them, the DM 2/8 and 2/10 have been discontinued, so you can get a very good deal on them if you like them. Also listen to the Excites X12s and X16s and the Focus 110s, the X16s and 110s will top out your budget.

The DM 2/6s and the Excites are easy to drive as they are actually 6 ohm speakers, the DM 2/8s and 2/10s and Focus lines are actually 4 ohm speakers with larger voice coils.

The Excites will have more mid-range, better transients and resolution of detail then the DMs, the upper level DMs will have more slam, the Focus line will have it all.

Cant wait to see what you think of them. Listen to as many as you can.

that would be a good selection of Music. Youre going to like what you hear.... perhaps love what you hear. If you can see if you can hear the C1s.... and if they have it, the Special 25 speaker.

Well... from the new sound of the Onkyos, they have taken on the sound of the Integras, which is good, cause the older Onkyo sound was harsher...... However, I will be getting either a refurb 6.9 for $500 or the dealers A-stock demo 7.9 for about $750/775.... the 5008 is well out of my price range.

sounds like you have a good plan i know you really like music and my 5008 is great for that i listen to music while i brouse this site so i understand. i hope it works out for you soon so you can enjoy those beautiful dynos to there fullest.
