I don't know about this status, but I want to use this question to comment that I thought that the Blu-ray was gorgeous!

The film was shot in Technirama (35mm sideways). I don't know what they used for film stock or what they used for lenses, but I was continually impressed by the color palette and that the film looked wide, not just some regular framing that happened to show a lot more to the left and right the principal subject.

My personal feeling is this should have been on the list of films in the earlier vote for best blu-ray of 2010 (or whatever it was).

It's just a delayed restock far as I can tell. They ran out before it was rerun

Thanks Jeff.

With some catalog titles already disappearing, I was hoping this wasn't another.

It won't come out till at least the fall in HK, and I expect by then there will be a US shop that has it. Japanese Blu-ray should be July-ish, but almost certainly will not carry English subs.

I just just hope it hangs around another 6 weeks so I can see it
Guess what, Jeff? An hour or two after I made the last post, I saw the ad for this movie on the street. This will be opened at theaters on 24th Feb in Hong Kong! Guess the BD will come within 3 months later? Late June or July, maybe?

Odd, cause it's being shown at a licensing show march 11 in HK

I don't know when the HK disc will be out, but It will be at least a few months after Japan

EDIT Before anyone asks, I don't expect, best case scenario, a US BD this year for it, assuming everything goes well

I wonder how common my experience is. For me, Disney's self-doubting Tron strategy completely backfired. Before Tron Legacy came out, I was fired up about it and would've snagged a Tron BD right away, in time to watch it once more before seeing Legacy in the theatre. Then, with Tron in hand, I would've felt some compulsion to purchase Tron Legacy on BD, to complete the set. Now, having seen Legacy, the wind is out of my sails and my response to the opportunity to buy both on BD is "Meh." I don't know how many theatre tickets Disney "sold" by not letting the Tron BD out the door, but they lost at least two BD sales for it.

Hmm... I'll investigate more closely, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for, since special packaging is usually a turn-off for me and I can't foresee getting any use out of the 3D BD in the next few years.

My feelings exactly at this point in time.

Can't find anything when doing a search. Will this be in Blu-ray 3D?

Edit: Found it over at the Digital Bits. Thanks for the heads-up.

I'm not trying to be a contrarian, but honestly, that makes me less interested.

Interesting. As you can imagine, I wrote that post on the suspicion that I'm not alone.

It seems to me that Legacy was like the last episode of Lost. You either got it or you didn't

I'm certainly going to be picking up the torn material, but I do wish the uberset had standard boxes. Further, neither the 5 disc set nor "the original classic" art appeal. I'd rather a box for each that reflected original poster art for each.
Here's hoping for a preorder steel box from Best Buy.

Not really... Lost's last episode wasn't boring.

I don't see how you could see legacy as boring. If it has a flaw it is that it was clearly made as the introduction to a new trilogy - without the commitment to actually producing it.

I really don't think "getting it" has anything to do with it, for me at least. It was fun for (most of) its running time.

That and the utter shambles of a second act.

About the Fox executive who said Predator "looked like what the filmmaker wanted it to look like" was he being literal? I thought Mctiernan was otherwise occupied.

I think it was a flawed way of explaining that it looks as good as they could make it look based on the film stock - and what the filmmaker found acceptable enough at the time of release.
