Its an absolute amazing TV as I have said before, but it sounds like its wasted on me, because honestly I cant see how its so much better then my 63 inch 8000 series 3d tv from Samsung. Maybe I'll just move it to the kids room and get something else for the living room ... lol

Now if the kuro would do the gimiky 3d shit that my samsung does, I'd be all about it again. I guess its life, you get used to something and you want whatever the newest hotness is, even if yours is still apparently it. lol.

I get that way about my cars too, I've bought 3 vipers new each time something was different about them from the previous version, and then I moved on to GTR. (I've kept the Viper, so I prob should keep the kuro too.. lol).

Honestly, I dont know. We bought it for our chicago home back in 2008, then we spent about a year in Northern California. (TV stayed in Chicago home the whole time). But we've certainly used it when we are in chicago, which we have been full time for about a year now. So thats why a calculation is almost impossible to come up with. Wish there was a menu option that would help.

The shipping sounds crazy to me. I have EVERYTHING for the TV EXCEPT the box, so I'm clueless how to ship something this big. I know how to ship (just look at my ebay id: jonv8944s), but something this big is beyond me.

So whats why im prefering a local pickup.

As far as I'm concerned it will be like the Onkyo HD DVD player. Toshiba player with Onkyo badge. 70" Sharp LED with ELITE badge.

To believe that somehow it's going to at all represent Kuro Elite performance, when Kuro was using PDP technology, seems like a massive stretch of logic and/or imagination don't you think?

I know it will not be a kuro elite plasma, I'm just saying that Sharp will not put the Elite brand on their low end stuff. If it will be something like a new version of the XS1, it will be good.
Who knows, maybe the Elite LCD's will eventually roll out the FUGA tech.

I don't see how Pioneer or Sharp are a fool for using the Elite name for high end LCD's. Please explain it to me. Anyone expecting an LCD to exceed the 2nd gen Kuro Signature Elite might be a fool though.
But if Sharp puts the Elite name on the 70" 3d LE935, it will probably be pretty decent. The LE935 got some props at CES.

I think you really mean Panasonic is a fool for not releasing a Panasonic Kuro.

Well if it's anything like the Sharp blu-ray players with the Elite label it will be a POS...

Because the elite name stood for quality and we all know none of sharp TV's will be anywhere near the performance of the 9G's elites. They're just doing this for money on the elite name. Funny thing is joe6 didn't care about the elites before so would they care now?

And everybody who knows about the elite name wouldn't even think about touching this.

You would think pioneer would work with panasonic to adopt the name, you know the company that bought your kuro tech ........but they go to sharp?

By the way, didn't you have pics of your HT? I think i remember seeing them. Might be thinking of sombody else.

I have the monitor version of your TV, the PRO-141FD and have yet to have it calibrated. I've had it for about 15 months now. I love the PQ on it already, and wonder how dropping another $500 on it to be professionally calibrated will make it THAT much better to justify such a high cost.
It's something I would have to see to believe, but then I'd also have to come up with the money to do it myself as I don't know anybody with my TV that is also calibrated professionally.

See thats how I have felt the whole time, I used the CNET settings, and its been perfect. So I am afraid I'm just not that 'hard core' to appeciate anything more. So much so, I finally got off my ass and listed it on ebay, I think its wasted on me:

Good luck with your sale. I feel the same way that it's wasted on me, but I still marvel at it's picture quality. I'm a stickler for movies even if not the MOST picky about subtle differences in colours as other pro's can be. So I'm enjoying my non-3D-but-looks-close-enough-to-it TV.

I don't think you low-balled it, perhaps for eBay you did where most sellers are just profiteering and/or don't know better places to look. I've seen lots of PRO-151's go for around $3500 on sites that people in the know would look on.

The 5020 and 6020 also have a work-around now which lets calibrators access the service menu panel to allow for pure mode and ISF mode, giving a calibrated result that is practically on par with the ELITE models.

See here:

This gives the Non-Elites Pure mode and ISF modes. The board is $117 from Pioneer or can be found on eBay for $89-$123.

This link has an in-depth step by step PDF attachment for the conversion.

Hey I clearly asked what I shoudl be asking for a price, I appeciated the feedback to look on videgon, and other sites, which I did. But I also checked Ebay and Amazon, and came to the price point I did, which is 200 below the LOWEST price one of them has sold on ebay recently. I'm not trying to screw anyone, I would have never come on here to see what I should do about selling it, if I just wanted to profitize the opportunity. I came to where I thought enthusiasts would want it, and not a single PM was sent to me, making me any offer, or interested in buying it. So ebay it went. Now I am just going to leave it there, and let it do its magic.

But lets be clear, I started out wanting to get this to a real enthusiast.

I've enjoyed the dialogue with you, I appeciate you providing feedback on having similar feelings I do on the TV. Obviously its not a slight to the TV, its wasted on me, just like when I see a Ferrari or Lambo driver, who puts 500 miles a year on his beautiful car. Its his car, let him do what he wants, but I believe he shoudl be out driving the shit out of it. My Kuro is pretty much a garage queen, it deserves to be so much more. I'm just not that guy for it.

Sharp and Pioneer have been working together since '07, so it makes a lot more sense than Panasonic actually.

Haven't posted any pics other than asking with type of LCD I should put in my non-light controlled living room. I still haven't bought one due to the work in progress but will probably buy something this summer. Link

I'm looking at a used LX5090 this week-end. It still has a full year of warranty left so that's a major plus.I've heard a lot about ''optimum'' mode being bad for overall pq and lifespan of these tv's. Is this true? And if so. Can I just look in the service menu if the contrast has been boosted too much? On a tv with approx 2500-3000 viewing hours. Would it be recommended to let it be if the previous owner always watched it this way,or is it nog that bad as people say?The guy himself doesn't look like a ht freak to me so I don't think he fiddled with the controls too much. Just wanna make sure. I'll be able to testplay the tv. Any other things I need to take a look at?He's asking 1800€ (2000 Us Dollars) for the Kuro with full year premium warranty, original sidespeakers and original wall mounting. Seems like a nice deal? Thanks everyone.

It sold for $5000 after the auction ended. Local buyer didnt want to risk a re-list with national shipping becoming an option.

You will likely start to see the effect of adding these patents to the Viera line through 2011 and 2012, though which lines will see the full extent is anyone's guess. If I were to guess it would be the top of the line series with a top of the line price tag will see the full benefit of Kuro technology and be the panel to finally oust Pioneer displays as Display King.
It is not true that ANY television will benefit from a proper calibration. I reject clients regularly who have displays that are in this catagory. Some displays have such large color errors that they cannot be fixed and can easily look worse if you try and hit D65 for example. Many displays will benefit from calibration. The more accurate the display can be and the better the calibration technique the more impressive the results are. Once you have seen a near perfect image system it is hard to go back. Believing any display is correct out of the box is equally flawed.

It is possible Panasonic will make a display that looks as good as a Kuro, but they show a lack of attention to detail to do it at this time. The precision that the last generation Kuro's displayed in key video performance factors like color accuracy in dark and bright scenes, accurate gamma, great black levels, reasonable light output, color uniformity, resolution, durability and high quality video processing has yet to be matched in a flat panel. If you are looking for this level of quality front projection is the only place this level of precision is found in today products.
