I did hear a rumour that Climates by Ceylan may be coming out on Blu-ray in 2011. Although I'm not sure how true it was, I know it had been aired on Arte TV in HD, so I hope it is true. Do you know anything about it? Ceylan is probably my favourite Turkish director after Erdem and Kaplanoglu. It is a shame neither of these had their latest films on Blu-ray, especially Kosmos which would be stunning in HD.

"Uc Maymun" Three Monkeys by Nuri Bilge Ceylan is available in BD from imaj entertainment. It has 1080p picture with lossless DTS audio. it should be within every art-house fans collection.

Most of home video releases in Turkey are from Kanal D home video. I am not a big fan of the technical aspects of their releases. Imaj entertainment also has some important movies within their library, their releases are usually top notch. There isnt any older Turkish movie release on Bd so we dont know how good of a job these studios can do in restoring older prints. In DVD era I did not see any decent release of an older film. They were usually standart scans with no post processing.

I think this store is a good place, and the only Turkish store which accepts payment from international credit card/bank accounts. There is always Ebay, but they are a lot more expensive! I like Idefix, and recommend them!

Thanks for that link. Is there a way to make the site english friendly or does one have to use a translator?

There isn't You will have to use google webpage translator, but when logging in and using the shopping cart, I think you will need to translate manually with google translate, and copy and paste the words or phrases you need to translate. It is a little bit awkward first time around, but you get used to the layout and navigation and should be OK.

I wish there were more turkish movies released on blu. I would like to see some old movies made by Yilmaz Guney, Tarik Akan or Kemal Sunal. I would love to see hababam sinifi on blu

Also new movies like Sonbahar, Vizontele, Babam ve Oglum, Sinav, Av Mevsimi, Yuregine Sor, Issiz Adam, Ejder Kapani, Mutluluk en Neseli Hayat

Maybe some series like Ezel, Cemberimde Gul Oya and Ihlamurlar Altinda (to only 3 I ever watched :P)

Anyways, more turkish cinema on blu!

Thanks for the information guys!
I hope that they will bring out some of those movies by summer

And this idefix seems good, but I also want to have kabadayi on blu-ray. They don't seem to have that one? Or am I mistaken?

There a few absences on their catalogue, and I think that might be one of them. If I remember from before, that place is slightly more expensive on a few Blu-ray, but not so much on DVDs, when compared with Hepsiburada, and D+R. It is worth checking back, as I have been waiting for them to get back in a title for about a month, and it seems they just got it back in.

Cheers

But heartbreaking news at the same time. The Swiss Trigon Films who have a great selection of films, which are usually only subtitled in French/German are releasing Bal / Honey on Blu-ray in May

https://www.trigon-film.org/en/shop/Blu-ray/Bal_-_Honey

Such a shame this will be subbed in English! I see they also plan on releasing Birdwatchers this month, which is a great film, but again the Blu-ray doesn't have subtitles.

Neden türkçe altyazılı filmleri de paylaşmıyoruz? Bilen bilmeyen bu konuya bakar istediği siteden alır en azından. malum Türkiye'de fiyatlar uçuk.

In english: Why not we are not sharing Turkish subtitled movies? As Turkish people know that the price of Turkish subtitled or dubbed movies so expensive in Turkey. Everybody in this forum from Turkey can look that subject and can buy from any site. Could be useful am i right? Maybe the other guys in this forum can help us.

Av Mevsimi (2010) (aka Hunting Season) has been released in Turkey, courtesy of Fida Film. This discs is possibly not English-friendly.
