Killzone 3 - Page 92 - Blu-ray Forum

Alright I've put on my fireproof suit for this one but here it goes.

I have been playing COD: Black Ops for about 2 months now. I aquired the Killzone 3 beta Thursday night and I've played it quite extensively. I gotta say fella's, based on the beta I'm not overly impressed and despite the connection issues (which I feel have been way overblown) I still enjoy COD more. Yes the game looks nice (though it's not a huge leap over Killzone 2) and the controls seem spot on. However the one thing I think I cannot get past is the frame rate. After playing COD at 60fps for so long, playing Killzone 3 at 30fps just seems choppier, lest fluid, and less natural. I don't expect many (if any) of you to agree and that's fine. However there are certain genres of games that at this point I feel NEED to run at 60fps and fast paced first person shooters are one of those genres! I will probably still get the game and I'm hoping the final build along with the single player campain will be improved. However as of now, for me it just doesn't have the fun factor that COD has.

One of the reason I prefer the online of games like KZ and BFBC over COD is because its slower. To me it feels like in COD that I'm controlling an Olympic spriter. To me I dont have an issue with the game running at 30fps.
Another reason I prefer KZ and BFBC is because it has more of a teamplay element and is not as focused on killstreaks.

Ive been reading a thread on the KZ forums about some people having the same problems as me. it also bugged me about KZ2 and there was a lot of complaints then too so i was hoping GG might of done something about it for KZ3 but no, the problem..... colour blindness

the red and green dots on the radar and names tags just look very similar to me and are not recognisable at a quick glance. Like i said GG recieved a lot of complaints about KZ2 and im sure it wouldnt of took much to at least change one of the colours for KZ3. You do not want to be on my team if friendly fire is on

I downloaded the beta yesterday and booted it up. Couldn't get past the "select language" screen. It kept freezing there. I mean, the PS3 didn't freeze, I could still access the XMB and exit the game, but the beta wouldn't let me advance. Tried this 4 times. Anyone else having the same issue?

My patience is running thin with the connection problems now

Having wife and kids i cant play whenever i want and whenever i do get a spare hour or two i just keep getting connection errors

Is anybody else having problems calibrating the Move with this? Today I played the Shoot demo, Dead Space Extraction demo and the KZ3 beta. The first 2 worked perfectly with the Move but KZ3 just would not calibrate, I did exactly what it asks you to do (from several different positions) bur afterwards the pointer wasn't doing anything like what I was doing, it was completely unusable. It worked the other day (eventually) but today completely useless.

No problems calibrating but I point a little further out than the corner markers so more wrist movement is needed to move the pointer. Make sure you do the calibration with your hand in the comfortable position you'll be playing from, don't hold it out in front of you.

How are you finding Move with KZ shin? would you say you are playing better, worse or the same as you would with the Dualshock?

I've tried sat in my chair, stood behind the chair and even stood right in front of the tv, none worked

I'll try pointing further out and see if that does the trick. So annoying because I got it to work last time I tried and I was getting the hang of it. Almost

It never leaves 30fps and has zero tearing! That's as solid as performance gets to a goal (the goal being 30fps).

Beta has been causing my PS3 to freeze and i mean freeze, i cant even switch my console off from the power button ive been having to actually unplug it

Definitely shooting better at mid and long range, having some trouble with the melee gesture spinning me round but I think I'm getting carried away and pushing too far. Getting better at turning which is clearly easier with a stick, at walking speed I think I'm pretty much even but sprinting through confined areas I'm getting caught on things a lot.

I'll get much more practise in with the demo and full game campaign.

Yeah i was wondering how sprinting around corridors and staircases would be, i imagined it could be tricky

Mine (160GB fat) did that in the PS+ beta sometimes. Haven't had it with the slim yet though.

I dont understand why we are having connection issues.

Were the connection issues the same when it was closed beta?

BTW, I really like KZ3 online. Sorry about my frustrations earlier about the beta. Its a lot of fun.

I didn't get a connection issue once when i played the closed beta.
