What bugs me about this sort of thing is that by trying to single out some group like slipcover or foreign film lovers, some people suddenly feel entitled to behave like uppity 4th graders at them.

It only took something like 2 or 3 very noisy people to decide to shout down anyone who dared say they enjoyed a certain director's movies and derail the thread for pages.

I throw away half my slipcovers, but I can't see the appeal of being bothered by or trying to bully the people who looooooooove them.

On the fun side, I just got my copies of Army of Shadows, Broadcast News and The World! Now if only work will let up for more than 2 waking hours so I can watch one of them.

BTW...it's region free.

They should release "More" as well.

That's the only Pink Floyd album I've not heard yet and I know even less about the film. Is there anything you can tell me about it?

Not that I know much about The Valley, but I do know it's soundtrack.

I have not seen it yet, but it has Mimsy Farmer in it + plus the music of Pink Floyd, not their best album (I give it a "C") . Pretty obscure film. Plus I'm a big Pink Floyd nut, I have all of their albums including the Syd Barrett stuff, by the way my least favorite PF album is The Final Cut (I give that a "D-")

Armacord arrived today, great packaging! I look forward to watching this, along with the handful of others I need to catch up on (The Magician, Videodrome, Pierrot & BBS series). Good times!

Really? I like the "atmosphere" of the album. It's something I used to listen to a lot while I read...along with the live disc from Ummagumma. Never saw the film, however.

On another note, I did receive The Committee from Netflix on Wed., but the disc was broken in two! That features some unreleased music by Pink Floyd. I was able to hear the songs years ago, along with some trippy dialogue clips, from a bootleg PF box set, A Tree Full of Secrets.

I will def. have to check out Obscured by Clouds...

That seems to be the least popular PF album. I think it was actually a Waters-led album that used the Pink Floyd name. There was not nearly as much collaboration on The Final Cut as any of their others. I also hear the same thing about the Gilmour-led A Momentary Lapse of Reason, which I actually like.

I actually listed to "More" MANY years ago, when I worked for my college radio station. Got to look for it one of these days (no pun intended )

Obscured by Clouds is a great album...most of the early Floyd has a lot of acoustic guitar, which I love!

Later Floyd doesn't hold a candle to early Floyd!

One of the biggest treats was seeing Gilmour live (on Blu ray, not in person!!) not only playing his newest album in its entirety, but going back to the PF days and playing Wots..., Fat Old Sun, Astronomy Domine and the full 23+ minute masterpiece, Echoes!

The Final Cut is not a Pink Floyd album but a Waters album. Amongst many problems, Wright was fired by Waters and did not participate in the recording and it shows. It's a good album if compared it to Cons or Radio K.A.O.S. eg.

Fellow Pink Floyd nut here but unfortunately I can't say I only have their entire catalogue because I own multiple versions/editions of each album. EMI does know how to milk us poor Floydians.

I like the "Remember That Night" blu as well
great guest artists at the concert as well:

David Bowie
David Crosby
Graham Nash
Robert Wyatt (love his cornet solo on the track Then I Close My Eyes, was his first concert appearence since being a drummer with Soft Machine and Matching Mole)

sad that it was one Richard Wright's final performances.

Yes, that Blu is great! Where is the Gdansk BD????? That set on DVD is incredible, but would love to upgrade!!

I met Nick Mason in a B&N (Criterion related!) in NYC before I moved south. He was signing copies of his Floyd book. I shook the hand that played drums with Floyd from the beginning 'til the end!!!

Oh, and I have a pic of myself standing in the amphitheatre in Pompeii where Floyd played in the 70's...I made my wife snap a photo of me standing there looking dumb...

I guess I am more of a PF nut than I originally thought!

You got to meet a drumming/percussion legend, I love Nick's style, even though many diss his playing, which I don't understand. I even have Nick's two solo LP's Fictitious Sports (Robert Wyatt On Vocals) and his album w/ Rick Fenn called "Profiles" (David Glimour sings on the track "Lie For A Lie) And I admit i have soft spot for the late Syd Barrett's albums as well.

Us Floyd fans gotta stick together! About to spin my Meddle Utradisc MFSL Gold CD right now!

I would love for CC to get the rights to Live At Pompeii! (after all they did release Monterey Pop and Gimme Shelter)
