Default center channel w/o receiver is it possible?

I have a tiny problem. in our living room we have a complete set up for uncompressed audio and 1080p. all the bells and whistles. but in our bedroom we just have a ps3 and the tv, a 32'' vizio 720p lcd. the tv is good. but the speakers on it suck. so i'm wondering if theres a way to get a decent center channel or 2 small speaker that could run off the tv's rca audio outputs (the red and white ones) without any other equipement. so it would just be ps3 and cable to the tv then tv to the speakers.

are you asking if there is a way to hook up two speakers (left/right) to the TV? You are not necessarily asking to use it as a "center" channel, in other words, to use for dialogue?? (I think I know what you mean...)

does your TV have a headphone jack? then you could just connect a simple 2.1 computer speaker set-up

edit: was just looking at the audio outputs for 32" Vizio...not sure what model...anyways didnt see a headphone jack...but, with the RCA outs you maybe could connect something like this to give you headphone jack ability...

Yamaha, Polk, and perhaps a couple of other companies now make all-in-one sound bars. They look like long center speakers, but they're supposed to create a whole surround sound environment from the single unit. No external receiver is necessary. You could power it from audio output jacks on the TV. I have not tried them, but they're made for situations like yours.

Another great choice is the Bose (I normally don't recommend their products) CineMate system. It's $499.00 everywhere, and hooks up from the TV RCA output jacks to the amp/subwoofer and back to two main speakers. No receiver is required.
My daughter went with this arrangement with a Sony 720P TV and Sony BDP301. The result is awesome!

i was looking at those types too. but wanted to avoid having a whole other device or system added to the bedroom set up.

...then maybe the 2.1 computer speakers using the RCA/stereo jack adapter?

this is what the set up we have used to look like. the ps3 is now on a shelf below the tv. i was hoping to get a sound bar or center channel to go in between them. i may end up going with the 2.1 system if i can't find an inexpensive sound bar or the likes.

what brand is it? and for being a refurb, how do you like it? that may be my option.

its a vizio. I dig it. so does my wife. only issue with it is the speakers. i've never had a problem with refurbed equipement. I believe buy.com has newer models that are refurbs for fairly cheap as well. just search refurb and there will be a few models that pop up.
