United Kingdom Pulp Fiction

No pre-orders yet, but this article on the website states that Studiocanal have acquired the rights to distribute Miramax's film library in the UK and Europe, and also says that Pulp Fiction will be out in June. It also doesn't say that the release is specifically just for the US market, and a European deal has also been made, so we could well see the film released in the UK sometime in June too.

I'm assuming the new Miramax company have sold only some European rights because their (or the old Disney-owned) back catalogue is owned by several distributors already (Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction and others have been on Blu-ray for years) like TF1 and E1.

We'll have to see what we get.

When I saw the title, my face lit up. I really, REALLY hope that this comes to fruition.

Definitely a Day 1 purchase for me. Such a classic. I just watched Reservoir Dogs a few days ago and I began wondering when this would be released. June can't get here soon enough.

Another one of my faves being released in June. I think the movie world must just be able to tell when it's my Birthday

I still don't quite understand the fascination with this film. I saw it for the first time a few months back with my girlfriend. It was one of those films that I always wanted to see but never got around to it. Anyways after all the hype, we started watching it and my girlfriend ended up falling asleep halfway through and I was very close to it. Nothing happens! Just extra long dialogue about random nothingness. Could someone please explain why it is supposedly so good?

You just don't like it, simple. Not everyone is going to like the same film so I wouldn't worry about it. Though I would say to watch it again, as for me, I've watched many films and on the first viewing not thought much of them only to like them on the second viewing.

Great news if it's released soon though.

I'm not a big Pulp Fiction fan either I loved Jackie Brown wasn't bothered about Kill Bill 1 or 2, Death Proof was okay but it was a film of two halfs. It's weird as I like Quentin Tarantino and love his enthusiasm for cinema and he clearly has a passion which I admire.

[Show spoiler]What I'd like to know is how many people went to the bathroom and missed Travolta getting killed, because due to the non-linear narrative structure he's alive at the end. It would have been fun to wind people up who didn't believe he was killed.

"What happened when I was away?"
"Oh nothing Travolta got machine gunned coming out of the bog...."
"Haha you're winding me up there he is...."
"I know (evil smirk) I was just pulling your leg...."

Maybe it's just me?

I like Pulp Fiction a lot, but I think my appreciation for it grew when I took a film studies course - I think it's a film for film nerds more than anything (non-linear editing, postmodernism etc.). Sure it's cool, but it's cool in a very nerdy way. I can see why it's praised so much, it's pretty innovative, and a great 90's flick.

One aspect I don't like though - any scenes with Bruce Willis bore me. I always skip those parts.

As for Jackie Brown...I haven't managed to watch that once without falling asleep. It's actually on my bucket list.

Of all Tarantino's films, I'm a sucker for Kill Bill most of all. Both of 'em.

I had the Polish version for years now. I won't be buying it again since the Polish version has excellent PQ and the case is all in English as well.

Thats the thing with PF and me I appreciate it on a technical level but I just can't get into it on an emotional one. Jackie Brown is probably more accessible on some levels.

One thing I hate about PF though is all the rubbish imitators that cropped up and filled cinemas and DTV shelves.

I've only seen the Kill Bills once and didn't enjoy them at all and I was so psyched to see them. One thing with Blu-ray though it gives you the chance to re-evaluate films and I often change my opinion on films after initially disliking them.

I love Pulp Fiction -it's one of those movies that altered the whole motion picture industry.

Maybe Jackie Brown is my favourite movie of Tarantino's as it has some very subtle adult storylines. A real masterwork.

I'll also not be changing any of my Blu-rays (PF from Denmark + JB from Netherlands/Belgium E1/RCV) unless of course Miramax come along with new material which they are likely not to do in Europe (which Europe anyway? I'm sure TF1 own much of their product for another 5 or 6 years) and if it's LionsGate I'd expect plenty meh and being locked A.

Miramax is a brand new company and they have lots of debt to start paying off so I'm expecting nothing new.

And in the meantime feast your eyes on (great packaging but bad Blu-ray from Australia):

And Jackie here doing here Pulp Fiction thang

Check out (Denmark Blu-ray of JB):

Yummy.

Ugh, I hope this doesn't mean it ONLY gets released in one of those books. I've not picked up Delicatessen because of the packaging, and I'm holding out in the hope of a standard case in a few years. Pulp Fiction is one of my favourite films of all time (but I too also rank Kill Bill as my favourite Tarantino movie), would really like to get it on release day.

The polish version is very very good. I was surprised. Therefore any version that comes out now should be at least as good. I'd give the Polish a 9/10 for PQ.
