Happy Blu-ray to me!

LOL...it's been a good weekend for Blu-ray in my case. Not only did I get the Blade Runner Complete Collection for about 14.95 plus tax because the cashier wasn't paying attention, I believe I also scored the very last copy of Paramount's Shooter in my neck of the woods

And this Christmas I'm hoping to convert my goddaughter's family to Blu-ray by gifting her mom a BD. Her mom's not into tech stuff (but really likes movies) and all my goddaughter uses her PS3 for is games so I think it's way past time their HDTV feels the power of Blu

thats pretty sweet i scored a playstation 2 controller for $2 thats what it scanned for so they had to give it to me at that price i think it was like $30 not as nice as your but i was happy.

It was a mistake on the store's part - not an intentional "cheat" by me - and considering I just bought a 52" XBR4 for more than three grand from the same store last week, I'm not losing too much sleep over them losing out on 20 measly bucks

Not to rain on your parade, but I think you'll find that talk of this nature isn't very popular on this site. It ranks right up there with HD DVD fanboyism with many. Let me be clear: no one is saying you intentionally deceived them, nor would I not take advantage of the situation either (their mistake, not mine), but it's just not all that popular here to brag about it. And talking about intentionally doing something of this nature will get your thread out-right deleted, and you possibly suspended or even banned. Just so you know how unpopular this is.

Now, pointing out a great sale, or where to get the best ads for price matching is a whole other story and encouraged...

I only wish I had a better PQ movie to convert them with - they're part Chinese so they love Chinese movies but there aren't that many to choose from on Blu-ray yet. Hero or Crouching Tiger would have been great - not out yet though - but I had to settle for House of Flying Daggers since I didn't think they'd dig the politics of Curse Of The Golden Flower and I couldn't get a copy of Warriors Of Heaven and Earth in time.

I didn't come here to start a flame war or brag about it. As you said, other people would have taken advantage of a similar situation - I think a lot of people here are taking it a little too seriously. I was happy about a once-in-a-blue-moon error that got me a copy of a great movie for cheap together with getting a hard-to-find out-of-print BD. Oh, and I still paid for it BTW I didn't steal it as some people here make it seem tantamount to.

It's not like I'm telling people about a repeatable tactic that they can use to cheat a store out of their money. So please before any of you get on the soapbox and call me evil for talking about it can you sit down and think about it for a second? Geez.

And if the mods do ban me for this then maybe it's good because I'd hate to be at a forum where you can get banned for what is essentially sheer dumb luck that netted you a bargain. If I had talked about going to some poor grandfather's yard sale and seeing a mint copy of Action Comics #1 for a buck then selling it on eBay for 300 grand then PLEASE flame me all you want but I think you guys need to lighten up if your getting chuffed over something like this.

and if you all are right and this isnt the place for it dont be the ones to try and tell him off and "discipline" him... there are mods for a reason, if they find this thread to be "offensive" they'll take it down... not you

Sorry if it sounded like I was attacking you but I just found the two posts seemed a little preachy given the situation I was talking about. I had replied to xtop's post with some levity - note the smiley - but I guess you took it to mean I was bragging. I really don't see anything wrong with being happy with getting lucky at a store - I'm sure I'm not the first one to randomly get a bargain - so I didn't think it should have been thought offensive to talk about it. I'm sorry if I came off harsh myself but I just felt it needed a strong explanation since it didn't seem to have occured to some posters here that it was dumb luck and not duplicity that had gotten me that bargain.

Oh, and I wasn't attacking the mods - I was just saying that IF they banned me for this then I wouldn't think that was fair and would happily leave this forum anyway.

I haven't seen it on blu, but I quite enjoyed House of Flying Daggers. How is the PQ on blu?

It's not bad but it could have been better. It's not as consistently good as Curse Of The Golden Flower certainly. I got my personal copy from a Best Buy BOGO offer so I certainly can't complain.

It should be good enough for casual viewers like my goddaughter and her mom I hope.

I love it, I am happy for you and only wish this kind of stuff happened to me!!! I wouldn't worry about what anyone says....odds are 99 out of 100 people would have done the exact same thing.. and I am not to sure the other 1 would have corrected the cashier... once again - SWEET PICK UP.
