That has been debunked actually. Goldfish have pretty decent memories, and can actually be 'trained'.

Sounds more like he was joking with his friends and wasn't actually paranoid about them being witnesses TBH. And anybody that gets really attached to a gold fish that isn't 5 years old has just as many issues as somebody that thinks they are a witness IMO
