the first of my complete HT system just gave up the ghost. When my son was playing call of duty black ops on xbox 360 earlier today the video had pink lines like dashes all through it and after retarting the lower right quadrant flashes red (unit is lying flat) and a E74 message shows up on screen. I guess its toast. gotta be hardware i figure.

I like the S10.3 is seriously a good 10 inch woofer and it's very well made, I am still happy with it and I paid 275$ which was a bargain price for it's performance. I would have never considered getting the old ESW nor the new ESW-C entry level subs. I say just get the BIC that is a good budget sup. |

yes but most pages just says hardware error. we tried wrapping the xbox in towels and leaving it on as one website suggested but that didnt work. it's gotta be the motherboard.

http://www.xbox360fixed.com/?hop=bestb4u Just quoting his suggestion "You would think so, but you don’t. In fact, you only some basic tools: a poking device and a screw driver. All you have to do is open the system up and adjust how the heat sink sits on the GPU and CPU. You are going to unscrew the heat sink, then put it back in a slightly adjusted position. Then you turn the system on (with the fan unplugged) and you heat it slightly so the chips realign on the motherboard. You then turn it off, let it cool down (letting the chips harden in place), put it back together and viola, problem solved. The chips are now in position and will no longer over heat because of the adjustment you made. It really is simple." Last edited by BigAl87; 02-17-2011 at 01:38 AM. |

My problem with the energy sub is the amp part. The drivers are pretty reliable that's why they get the 5-year warranty. How on earth did such a clearly defective unit leave the factory, they must not have any quality control. Getting this back to electronics expo is going to be a big problem for me. They want it double boxed but they didn't bother sending it to me double boxed. When all is set and done I may potentially be out of $100. It's funny how that works. I get a defective item, suffer the frustration of dealing with it and get to fork over some of my money to pay for it all.

You have seen my experience with A Mexican Dell Monitor? I had an issue with a brand new DVD player made in China. Energy never actually had bad issues like this when was made in Canada, Pretty much the whole production of energy S10.3 that was assembled in china had problems withe the front led burning out, why maybe they were taking some random quality leds to put in but the fact that I never had issues with mine had me believe I was lucky but when I saw mine was made in Canada while Energy was Energy and controlled by API, I understood why my led always functioned. As I said you could return it for an exchange. I understand their drivers are 5 years and amp 1 year while Bryston has amps they guarantee for 15 years and Simaudio for 10 years. I understand it's not the same price range but as you said your unit should have never left the factory. I cannot take the decision for you but I would return the sub if you can and use the Polk for the time being until you can buy something like an ED A-250 for 350$, the BIC you suggested is a good alternative for an immediate solution. Almost everything in our world is made in China. In the future I expect the planet to have a big sticker on it that says "Made in China".
I think there was big scandal with Dell knowingly selling defective items. Last edited by 9883; 02-17-2011 at 01:49 AM. |

I just want to give pros and cons of what you think is best for you. Now back on your sub Just get the Bic as you suggested if you want a sub now and you are on a budget, they are know to be really good value. I would just use the polk for the time being and get the ED later. All the best hoping those has been a good learning experience for you. Best of luck with reimbursement or replacement of the unit. Hello Everyone,
I recently purchased a set of Energy Take 5 Classics and am enjoying them pretty well. That in turn has got me curious about what else Energy has to offer in terms of speakers. The Takes give me a good indication of the value and quality of speakers that Energy has to offer. I have done some researching on the RC-50s and was wondering how they would compare to Axiom's M60 or M80s. Axiom speakers were going to be my setup of choice when I had enough saved up. The Classics were my interim speaker until then. I am glad I got the Classics because I am currently very interested in Energy speakers. What I am most curious about is the RC-R speaker. From reading this thread, a lot of poster on here speaks very highly of them. Some even saying they are the best surround speakers they have ever owned. Are they really that good. Would anyone know how they compare to Axiom's QS8s? Seeking |
