Default The Blu-ray.Com Community Top 20 Horror Films of the 2000's (Please Read First Post)

Next up are the top 20 Horror films of the 2000's. List your top 20 Horror films that were released domestically in the US between 2000-2009 whether it was a wide release or a limited release or even a direct to video release. As long as the film was released in the US between Jan 1st 2000 to Dec 31st 2009 then it qualifies. No films released in 2010 will be accepted. Make your list based on what u feel are the best/favorite or a combination of both or whatever movie u feel should make your top 20 list of the 2000's. Its all up to u!

How does it work? It's easy. You come up with a list of what you think are the Top 20 Horror Films of the 2000's. Based on how they place on your list, the film will receive a certain amount of points. The Top 15 films on your list will be scored accordingly:

1. 15 Points
2. 14 Points
3. 13 Points
4. 12 Points
5. 11 Points
6. 10 Points
....
12. 4 Points
13. 3 Points
14. 2 Points
15. 1 Point

Every film placed after the 15th spot will also receive 1 point. So essentially, you only have to rank the Top 15 while putting the remaining 5 in no particular order.

RULES
1. You may base your list on best/favorites Horror films of the 2000's (2000-2009) or however it works for you. To me best/favorites go hand in hand for the most part. It doesn't matter how bad the film may be perceived by everyone else this is your opinion only so dont be afraid to list what you feel you want to list!

2. Please do not make multiple list. I know as u see films people want to update their list and create a whole new list but that will make it to hard to tally the points. So when u want to add a new film to your list or just simply change your list just edit your original list. U can edit your list all the way up to the deadline.

3. TRILOGIES or SERIES DO NOT COUNT AS ONE. It was quite aggravating in one of the other threads to see somebody's number 1 film of all time be: The Original Star Trilogy or The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. These are 3 films, not 1. So if you put the Saw "Series" as your number one Horror film of all time, I won't count your list. Simple as that!

4. Do NOT put multiple films at the same ranking. Don't put 3 films at the number one spot then start the list at 4 following it. Put only ONE film at each rank, or I won't count your list.

5. Since this is for fun and discussing films should be fun, be respectful of each other. If somebody has a film you think sucks at number 1, who cares? The point of the thread is to find out what the community as a whole thinks is the top Horror film of the 2000's.

6. Deadline: March 14th, 2011 12am Pacific Time. That gives us 3 weeks to create a list which should be plenty of time. I wont take any lists after this. So make sure you get your list in before then.

Got Em!!

Yo guys I know I didnt stipulate but Shaun of the Dead isnt a horror film really and I really dont want films like that listed. I even looked it up and it said romantic zombie comedy. If we can lets list serious horror films. I mean even films like Hatchet which has some comedy is still a serious horror film and Im sure u could see the difference between that film and say a film like SOTD. What do the rest of yall think? Got Em!!

It's listed as Horror on IMDB. Sure, its more horror comedy, but it does have horror elements/Zombies.

i think Shaun of the Dead should definitely count, horror/comedys have always been a staple of the horror genre. im actually mad at myself for forgetting to list it.

Definately agree there, think of all the great 80's Horror's that fall into that. I almost forgot it and when it came down to the last few movies (I kinda struggled to think of decent Horror's from this decade), then suddenly thought of it and re-adjusted my list accordingly.

Also, thanks for being flexible on that CZAR.

Yea I agree that horror/comedy is a big part of horror but it seems movies like SOTD and Zombieland are more comedy/horror and has much more comedy than your average horror/comedy. Another example is Feast, it has comedy but when u watch especially at night in the dark it still has the horror feel and is very creepy. With Zombieland (a good film) I dont get that as the comedy portion is so heavy that it smothers any of the horror elements the film pertains.

Again its cool to list any horror/comedy as I didnt stipulate but thats how I look at those films. Got Em!!

you make a good point with Zombieland, its a fine line. i admit theres very little difference in the tone between Shaun and Zombieland but for some reason i wouldnt consider Zombieland for this list even though i like it more than some films i have listed. maybe i should. i guess the difference is nothing bad ever really happens to the main characters, in Shaun of the Dead friends and family die horrible deaths onscreen which is what id say puts it over into more Horror/Comedy than Comedy/Horror. there isnt really a sense of danger in Zombieland.

17. Cloverfield
18. Land of the Dead
