Yes, I am a bit blind to it cause I always enjoyed it so much. It's one of those movies that you like so much you see more into it then what might actually be there

I wonder if everyone as a movie or movies like that? You know the type that you sort of see it as more then what it's actually is.

Oh absolutely--I have no doubt that there's films I like that I overstate the value of because I like them so much.

I will be watching Still walking in the coming days. I was hoping for tonight but I may not quite have the time and the day in the office is killing me a bit. It's a type of movie I prefer watching with a relax frame of mind, it's not like watching Iron Man afterall

Finally saw Princess and the Frog, very good movie. At first I didn't like it but once it got going it was excellent. I see some didn't like the musical score but it didn't bother me since I don't really pay attention to that stuff, will order the 3 disc blu-ray soon. 4.5/5 from me.

Woah, who here didn't like the score? I thought it was one of Disney's most solid group of songs. Glad you liked the movie though, Anakin.

dumb question: (dumb since you're a big fan as are others, but...) is Amelie really that good? one of my friends saw it recently and she won't shut the F up about it.

one thing i ALWAYS hear about it is: it makes you feel good and it makes you smile a lot and it brightens your day.

true, or no?

i've always been meaning to see it, but never have.

Amelie has been on my DVR for a while now (along with a ton of other movies and TV shows). I'll try to watch it soon.

And Hep, your avatar reminded me to write a review of Baraka, which I just watched last night. All I'll say for now is it's an awesome film.

It's in my Top 20 and I grin every time I watch it.

All Star Superman

Movie - 5/5
Wow, just wow.
This is not only the best DC/Marvel animation ever made, but its also one of the best animations overall standing tall as a standalone movie aimed not only for Comic Geeks, but general audience.

I liked everything about it. Great story, great drama, great action scenes, great dialog, great plot and overall great everything. The tensions and emosions throughout the movie where comparable to those of first rate live action movies. Overall, the movie just felt smart and smartly made.

PQ - 4.5/5
I am no expert but it looked perfect to me, better than any other DC/Marvel movie. I like the animation style a lot too. The space scenes and overall cinematography was just breathtaking.

AQ - 4.5/5
Trust me, it doesnt feel like typical DC/Marvel staff. It was almost like live action movie. Good experience overall.

Overall - 5/5
If you are into DC/Marvel or Superman fan, get it. If you are someone who at least doesnt hate Superman or likes great movies, you must still grab it. Its a must have for anyone as long as you dont hate Superman or animation all together.

Oh and last, this one felt EPIC overall.

P.S. I have one question.
[Show spoiler]Is he going to be back or he actually died?

True. I normally love the more depressing movies, but this is one feel good movie that actually feels genuine, and for me those are fairly rare.

Let us know what you think of Amelie; I'll save my review for after I watch the BD.

As for Baraka, it obviously has a special place in my heart, so I'd love hear your thoughts.

Great to hear, I'll have to order it ASAP. It's been a while since I saw it on late night TV, and I loved it. I'm going to wait for a proper viewing to place it in my top 20, but it certainly has a chance.

I watched a movie called "Frozen" the other night where a guy gets his hands shredded by trying to traverse the cable to the adjacent chair. I know you're intimately familiar with these cables and I was curious if this is realistic. Are the cables razor sharp? Enough to cut through a pair of winter gloves if you were hanging from it? Thanks for the help.

Next greatest movie borrowed from a library: “Papillion.”

Dustin Hoffman is a jolly fine and dandy actor, but with the eternal badass Steve McQueen in the mix, I figure this prison movie should be a true winner. And it is at some points: there are plenty of memorable, visually stunning scenes. It’s very surprisingly dark, gritty, gnarly, violent, and tense. The scenes where McQueen’s imprisoned in solitary confinement really had me engrossed. But aside from that, a number of bizarre surreal scenes, the occasional moments of brutal violence, and the occasional striking imagery…unfortunately, despite all this, I found the movie quite long and slow.

The story’s not bad. I think I briefly read somewhere that this was a sugar-coated book based on a real-life account or something. It wouldn’t surprise me if this tale is romanticized or watered down to some extent. But as it is, it’s pretty good, and the characters are quite strong.

As a film, the photography is good, with some moments of outstanding brilliance. Acting is good (at times I barely recognized the main characters) and the writing’s not bad. Production value is solid.

4/5 (entertainment: 3.5/5, story: 4/5, film: 4.5/5)

Recommendation: Sure.

The DVD looked and sounded like crap. The upcoming Blu-Ray release should do the film better justice.

I’m still not sure if I want a copy. The stuff I liked and the overall imagery might encourage me, but the pacing does not.

I probably like "The Great Escape" a little better.

That's funny Al, I liked Papillon way better than The Great Escape, I just couldn't stand the silly march music, the unrealistic protrayal of isolation in prison, which is handled much better in Papillon I might add. But I did enjoy the actual Escape in TGE though, found myself being excited that sequence alone.
