United Kingdom The Twilight Zone: The Complete Series

pre-orders:

The Twilight Zone: Season 1 Blu-ray

The Twilight Zone: Season 2 Blu-ray

The Twilight Zone: Season 3 Blu-ray

The Twilight Zone: Season 4 Blu-ray

The fun kicks off on April 18 with the arrival of The Twilight Zone: Season One (priced £35 on DVD and £50 on Blu-ray), Season Two will follow on May 23, Season Three on June 27, Season Four on August 8 and Season Five on September 19. Then, to bring this year of all-things Twilight Zone to a spectacular finale, Halloween will see the release of DVD and Blu-ray boxsets of The Twilight Zone: The Complete Series, plus the DVD-only release of the short-lived '80s re-imagining on the series.

Presented for the first time in the UK, the Blu-ray edition is in pristine high-definition, digitally remastered from new 1080p film transfers using the original camera negatives and magnetic soundtracks. As well as all the features on the DVDeditions, the Blu-ray editions will also include a host of extras, available for the first time in the UK. Season 1 alone includes an unofficial pilot written by Rod Serling, 19 new audio commentaries, 18 radio dramas, 34 isolated music scores, and much more.

'Created by the legendary Rod Serling, the multi-Emmy award-winning The Twilight Zone is a true landmark show in television history. It made an indelible mark on popular culture and remains, to this day, one of the most innovative and influential series of all time. The original series ran for 156 episodes between 1959 and 1964, spawning a revival series (1985-1989), a Steven Spielberg-produced feature film (1983), a TV movie (1994) and a final TV series (2002-2003). Sophisticated and entertaining, much of the show's success was due to the timeless nature and universal appeal of its stories. Its writers included leading sci-fi and fantasy genre writers Richard Matheson, Ray Bradbury, Charles Beaumont and Serling, himself.
The series also helped launch the careers of many soon-to-be famous stars, including Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Duvall, Peter Falk, Dennis Hopper, Ron Howard, Lee Marvin, Vera Miles, Elizabeth Montgomery, Agnes Moorehead, Leonard Nimoy, Donald Pleasence, Robert Redford, William Shatner and Natalie Trundy, as well as providing a platform for established acting greats such as Buster Keaton, Burgess Meredith and Mickey Rooney.
An essential viewing experience for fans of sci-fi, fantasy and groundbreaking TV drama, these newly remastered editions of The Twilight Zone present Rod Serling's television masterpiece as never seen before.

'The Twilight Zone: The Original Series - Season One (cert. tbc) will be released on DVD (£34.99) and Blu-ray (£49.99) by Shock Entertainment and FremantleMedia Enterprises on 18th April 2011.

They'll have to be a lot cheaper than £50 per season to peak my interest.

YES! I've been waiting for this since they announced it in America. About time we got it here!

I'll be waiting for a price drop too, £30 wouldn't be unreasonable.

Thank god! I was fearing i'd have to to import.

Still 50£ is a bit much! Though it will be cheaper on Amazon, i bet... I will be getting The Complete Series set on Blu Ray! Hopefully it will feature everything the US does and not skim on the extras like 'Disney UK' did with LOST.

I'll hold off and get the full boxset I think. As others have said very pricey though. Suprised they're bringing them all out so soon after one another.

£50 RRP is in line with most releases. HBO shows are £50 per season, Mad Men and Tudors £40, Lost £60 and Star Trek: TOS £70. Of course it'll be cheaper after discounts.

Very very happy news!

Shame I allready got the faulty US Season 1. Well atleast I now can just wait for the later UK Seasons to get down in price. How much could the Complete UK Set cost in say Christmas? Now that present would make me more happy than ever of a Blu-ray!

The press release posted at the Cult Labs forums and at a few other websites says the complete series box set will be DVD only:
http://www.cult-labs.com/forums/uk-d...-1-beyond.html

«The Twilight Zone: Season Two will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on 23rd May, Season Three on 27th June, Season Four on 8th August and Season Five on 19th September 2011. Complete boxed sets of the original series and the 1980s series will be released on DVD only on 31st October 2011

Anyway, great news that this series is getting a region B release, especially since it seems all the special features from the US set will be present.

That's curious, so where did HCC get the info about the complete Blu-ray set from? Or did they change the press release?

I suppose releasing the 5 seasons separately over 6 months would be pretty risky if they knew everyone was just waiting for the complete set anyway.

Why no Complete Set on Blu Ray?? With a show like 24 i can understand, since none of the first seasons will be released on Blu, BUT the whole series of the Twilight Zone is going to be! It makes no sense

Makes perfect sense, for them, why release a complete box set that's bound to be cheaper than buying all the seasons individually. There will be a complete set, eventually, but it'll probably come at the end of next year.

Immediately releasing and printing up a number of very expensive 25-disc box sets is probably a big risk financially, not to mention that such endeavors all too often end with a wave of complaints regarding copies with missing discs, duplicate discs, discs with incorrect labels and so on.

Much better to spread out the cost over a number of months, even if you know you're eventually going to release all of it (and if it bombs completely you can always abort, as with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood in the UK.)

I can't believe we have to wait until Halloween for the boxset. I'm holding off from the seperate releases until I at least get to see what the ultimate box looks like. I better work some overtime to save up!

What boxset?

I thought it was confirmed the full series boxset would be DVD only, I even posted a link to the press release explicitly saying it.

Has there been any change of plans I'm unaware of?

Well I've read the press release a few times and it's a bit ambiguous, but I took that to mean that the complete series of the 80's version would be DVD only. It's actually pretty unclear as to whether there will or will not be a complete original series set - hope there is though.

In other news I'm hearing that season one has been pushed back to early May. Most retailers show this, but amazon's been a bit slow.
