Default 42inch plasma 1080p for under $600... Is it possible?

I really want a plasma...
I had my eyes set on the 50 inch Panasonic G25 for under a grand on amazon for a few weeks now. But my friends talked me out of it due to my where I live currently.

Right now I am renting a bedroom from a friend, helping me and her, considering I needed a place to live and she needed some extra money.
So long story short... my space is limited.

I wanted a plasma... I already have a Samsung 50inch LCD in the living room... but sometimes its occupied with kids or lifetime shows :P

So I am looking for a 42inch for the bedroom... I have done alot of searching I dont think I am going to find a Plasma 1080P plasma in my price range.

I really dont wanna pay over 600 bucks for it... due to the fact, I could just get the 50 inch for just a couple under bucks more, and I really dont have the space for it right now.

Do I have options?
Right now I am just looking at this LCD.... TC-L42U25 on amazon for $550. So Far LCDs really havent wowed me as much plasmas have.

They do have 42 inch 720P Plasmas... Hurts me to ask... but whats yalls opinon? 1080P LCD 42inch or 720P Plasma 42inch? Which is the lesser of two evils?

Thanks

I've owned a 42 inch 720p plasma for over 4 years now. I've loved it. Plasmas are better tv's than lcd's. There are only 2 advantages lcd's have over plasmas... They are better in bright rooms and will never have burn in(think video games). Oh, and also they use less power. Those are hardly worthy advantages to have. If u care about having a better picture and deeper blacks, and u watch a lot of movies, then a plasma is for you. Get the best and biggest plasma you can with the money you can spend.

You can grab the 42" C2 720p for $529 shipped from 6AVE
I wouldn't sweat the panel resolution.

I know you're asking about plasmas, and I prefer them too.... but in case you aren't 100% on them, you should look at the LG 1080p LCD on Amazon... 47" for $599 free shipping and no-tax depending on where you are:

Looks like the price jumped 150 bucks in a day.... Sucks. Considering 600 for it seemed like a steal.

I plan on deciding by tomorrow.... Right now I am completely undecided. Now I have started to look at LEDs as well considering they have better blacks then LCD.

LED's have some drawbacks on them unless you are getting a quality full array local back lit display (and those carry a large price premium).

How much under $1000 are we talking? I've seen a Panasonic GT253D Plasma for $699 (42'' Version).

If you are a gamer, you may have problems with lag on LEDS. Especially the Samsung Models.

I got my Panasonic TC-P42s1 1080p plasma about a year ago from HHGregg for $500 out the door, but it was a floor model. It came with a full warranty and works great! I don't know if HHGregg is nationwide, but they are one of the few places that you can actually haggle the price down.

Very nice TV

If you don't care about 3D then grab the TC-P42G25 for $699.99 on amazon.

Has anyone here bought from that site before?

Does Panasonic Honor them in case I need to use the warrenty?

Do they use a decent Carrier?

So its 877 at final check it? I dont like its asking me for my Credit Card info before it actually shows me the 877 price. Right now its like 2099.

For 877 I am down... Ill just put off buying the scanner I been wanting.

The 50' is gonna look insane in my little ass bedroom though. :P

Lolz!

I think it is 877 because there is no taxes or shipping fees. I've heard some good stuff from them, (much much better than Amazon).

Also, Costco has the 46'' version with glasses for $899.

Yes, I'm pretty sure a 50 foot television will look ridiculous in you bedroom. It won't fit! But you just gotta shove it in there!

Alright Just bought the GT25 50' from US Appliance... I am bit worried considering all the reviews I have read says it takes at least 2 weeks and up to 3 Months to get what you ordered from them.

Since I read here, most people got there TVs in the 2 week frame I went ahead and ordered.

877 for the GT25 is worth the 2 weeks but its not worth a 1/4 of a year wait. We will see I guess.

Damn, wish I would have thought about Amazon doing price match.

I just read there price match policy that they match US-appliance.com for TVs. I might call and cancel my order tomorrow when I wake up, and give amazon a call so I can get it faster.
