I hope not. I'm quite enjoying filling up a Blu library at less than DVD prices with the BOGOs.

All those quotes Jaguar posted are just their "flavors of the week." It changes every few weeks to a new round of crap. Look back at the last few months of ignorance/FUD:

When Paramount switched, the fanboys cried they had dealt Blu-Ray a serious blow and proclaimed the "momentum had switched" - False

When Transformers and Shrek were released, the fanboys cried those were going to be THE weeks Blu-Ray was finally knocked off the top - False

When Venturer got into the HD-DVD market and produced "a new player," the fanboys cried there was now a new manufacturer and Blu-Ray was doomed - False

When HD-DVD couldn't win a single week of software sales, even with 2 of the biggest box office hits of the year, the fanboys cried if Wal-Mart were counted, they would be proved victorious - False

The fanboys cry that PS3 sales were abysmal and nobody uses them to watch movies - False

When Disney voted for the 51GB HD-DVD spec, the fanboys cried Disney was going exclusive HD-DVD - False

With all the new $99 firesale and other bargain players the fanboys cried they were going to win Harry Potter head-to-head sales unanimously and Warner would go HD-DVD exclusive - False

When all the people open up HD-DVD players on Christmas morning, the fanboys cry everyone will be out buying TONS of movies and "the avalanche that is HD-DVD" will FINALLY be unleashed - ________

I'll let you decide the most intelligent way to finish that one.....

No, that's our driller (oil driller) at the fairgrounds. It's representative of the oil industry that has a great heritage here in Tulsa.

Smart Patrick sounds like RDJAM.
he got very defensive when i said HDonlinenow was a FUD site (he was telling readers to go there for all there info and sign the petitions from the amazon forum) (which it is a fud site and HDDVD fans know that as well) and linked to the DVD file comments about the site.
dude got nasty like he was protecting his own baby.......

I'm trying to figure out exactly what everyone is worried about? Are people worried about Bourne/Potter week still (because those numbers I thought were released already) or are people thinking Blu-ray somehow lost last week with having Simpsons (and Rush Hour 3 for the weekend) which the numbers have yet to be announced?

either way I'm not sure why people worry about it anymore. HD-DVD can't win on Transformer week and can't win with their last big title (Bourne), they are not going to win a single week this year. This year is a done deal, Blu-ray sweep.

The only question that worries me is Warner looking for excuses not to choose exclusivity with Blu-ray.

Worried, no, just nice to see the official breakdowns and such, AND the numbers from last week, the Blade Runner week.

Let's take a look at the Amazon situation for a moment. There are four titles that are WB, the first four Harry Potter movies. Then all the rest are Universal. Anyone else remember the article with the Universal Studios guy claiming that Harry Potter was outselling the BD versions? So, anyone else think that Universal decided to have a BOGO then also told Amazon to include those Harry Potter movies to bump up the sales for them so he didn't look like a liar. Universal could be footing the bill for all the free Harry Potter titles.

Just my take on the situation.

Do we still have to put up with this Chicken Little crap? Blu won't lose the week. You and your kind will be wrong for the 52nd straight week. Does it ever get old being scared of shadows?

There should be a rule for these Chicken Little posters. If they post more than 3 Chicken Little posts in a week, they automatically get THAT logo attached to their username.

I think the weak Potter sales (most expected it to beat Pirates/Bourne) is a good thing, in this regard. The studios have been playing both sides of the war in part to get hardware prices lower and encourage market penetration. But there comes a point where that's no longer worth stunting the growth because of the issue of mass-market consumers putting off jumping into the market due to the confusion and wanting to let the war play out. We're nearing the day where it just makes sense for the biggest studio (Warner) to say "okay, enough, let's end the war."

That's exactly what I was thinking and exactly what happened. I, for one, wrote Amazon about a buy-one-get-one-free for blu-ray including the Harry Potter titles. I don't think they make up the sales, but it didn't hurt. I'd love to buy those Potter films, and it would be great to have them as BOGO titles. Anyone that cares to write Amazon to request a BOGO for Potter films on blu should write to (you will have to sign in):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/conta...nabled=enabled

You sign in and then on the lower right of the form, you see "contact us." You do not have to place an order number in there, you can just comment. Maybe we can get our own Harry Potter BOGO sale then we don't have to spend so much on each of them. It would also help the ratios.

Default News from Penton-man!

Thought I would drop this in here, since there's so much talk about BOGOs and whether or not we're getting Warner, etc., etc.,...

After discussions yesterday, I am not concerned about this or any other future HD DVD sales for that matter. Personally now, I think there should be sufficient sales data even without waiting for 5th quarter numbers or beyond.

The only thing on my mind at this time is whether a certain would be totally blu studio gets “exce$$ively mounted” like another one did several months ago to corrupt a reasonable assessment of the situation.

If you guys that are PMing me about HD DVD bogo sales want to worry about something, that is the only possible thing I can see that could potentially derail a good expedited outcome…… and so far, everything is still on track.

Later
btw, that was posted at 12:17pm today...

I am glad to hear that.
I hope this deal happens soon, I do not want to be on the edge of my seat for so long not knowing for sure if BD will take over in '08 with WB on board or not.

I work at Best Buy, and we sold BD players the last 2 weeks before christmas at a ratio of about 20(if not more) to 1 at my store.
