Epic Games talks about the possibility of Gears of War on PS3

"Do we wish we could take all those Killzone [players] and Resistance fans on PS3, and get them to say 'Gears is awesome'? Yeah, sure I'd love to ship the Gears trilogy on PlayStation. That would be fun. I want to be there; I want to be everywhere," he said.

So will Gears of War ever come to PS3? Capps wouldn't say, but he did note that, "We definitely own Gears of War. This is our franchise, our IP," so the possibility is still there. However, he added, "Time and time again, when it came down to figure out what we do next with Gears, we sat down with Microsoft and they've given us really good, compelling reasons to work with them again."

Microsoft will NEVER let that happen. They would spend the money to acquire Epic games before Gears ever showed up on PS3. MS publishes all the Gears games and probably has some owenership of the IP, despite what that article said. It probably is the same reason we will never see the first Mass Effect on PS3.

They don't, but they have a crap ton of cash to make sure Gears stay exclusive. I bet those are the "Reasons" they are refering to lol.

MS does have a say I guarantee it and they will pay whatever it takes to keep it exclusive to 360.

If not Gears would have gone to PS3 LONG ago.

It aint gonna happen. Gears and Halo are now the only major exclusive franchises for the 360. No way MS gives up that competitive edge.

This is not an opinion/statement based on the differences between these two IPs. Gears of War could easily come to PS3, if MS stopped providing enough money to keep Epic Games happy. No matter what the situation is, God of War could not appear on the X360. Well, nothing short of Sony selling them the IP. That has never happened before.

I agree I see MS doing whatever it takes to keep it on 360 and plus there is no point in releaseing GOW on PS3 unless they release the first two along side the third one

Although it would be nice to have the Gears Trilogy on the PS3, it will most likely never happen, but hey I have a 360 so no loss for me.

I would omit the word "major" from that statement and leave it at "exclusives." I've played most of the games in both franchises and they are mostly severely lacking in the quality I've come to expect from my gaming entertainment.

I still can't believe that Halo is producing such high sales numbers. I can understand Gears selling well. It is definitely fairly decent. But, Halo has never felt anything other than generic for me.

Dude, how are you going to deny that those 2 franchises aren't "major"? Both of those franchises have sold more than anything on the PS3.

I don't like either of those titles, but I'm not about to make some remark like that.

I own both systems and have played and enjoyed exclusives on both systems. Halo is a very enjoyable game. I certainly don't think its as good as all the fanboyish hype (what game ever is?) its been given, but neither is Killzone or Resistance or God of War. I place Halo in the same categories as the aforementioned games. Damn fun at times, but they really are the same damn game with just a different coat of paint. Well God of War is not an FPS so its different.

Having said that, I do like the PS3 more since I feel it has better exclusives. I feel that is ESPECIALLY true now that PS3 players have the Mass Effect series.

I can only imagine what GameFAQS looks like right now with this rumor type news. I think all the game developers sit down together and put out news like this to have a good laugh at the reactions.

Having said what I have said thus far, I do find it a bit surprising that they would even talk about it at all.

Nevertheless, I will take a bet that Gears of War 3 will not EVER come to PS3 with anyone.

Except for the fact that Sony owns those IPs, MS owns the first Mass Effect, Gears is fair game.

Personally, having played gears, I don't care for it enough to buy it on the PS3, thickheaded plot, cartoon characters and a story Michael Bay would be proud to call his own.

Not that I think they would come and i really don't care, but just releasing Gears 3 would be perfectly fine. The story in these games is a complete joke, just like releasing Killzone 3 on the 360 would be fine..
