Either the rubber bumper or spikes will do but I prefer the spikes as they reduce point of contact to it's minimum and therefore inproving the sound due to minimal resonance, the rubber bumpers are not bad at all I mean the point of contact with the floor is very small too but all in all the spikes will give you the best performance and since the RC-30 are not very tall the spikes will rase them almost an inch with that small disc that should be provided to place under each spikes.

Monoprice.com is a great place to be speaker wire. The wire is perfect for the entry level enthusiast and is dirt cheap. BlueJeansCable also has an incredible price/performace ratio. Don't ever buy Monster Cable. They're nothing but a scam that try to convince people that they're cables will make a huge difference in their HT. The type of gauge you need depends on how far your speakers are from the receiver. The general rule of thumb is: Less than 80 feet= 16 gauge, 80 feet to 200 feet= 14 gauge, over 200 feet= 12 gauge. Hope this helps and good luck.

I'm using my spikes. Check out my HT gallery. You'll see how they are being used.

I'm considering those small iso blocks that was posted here. #1,609

hello all,

i'm going to put the yamaha back into storage. time to put out the old rotel stuff (rsp-985 & rb-985mkii). the 2-channel system should really sing now. the rc-30's & yamaha sounds good but the rotel will make them sound great.

Ah, I see you replied before I edited my last post so I'll ask again. Where is the second sub located? I remember you having 2 subs up front.

The far left. If you look in my HT gallery. Scroll near the bottom and you'll see it.

Well since I was using foam from Wal-Mart. I noticed the increase in bass, an depth. Now that I have the sub risers. They sound about the same, if not slightly deeper, but nothing to go whoa over.

I can tell you though, elevating your sub a few inches off the ground does make a difference instantly from my experience.

I elevated my Yamaha sub a few inches, but I didn't really notice any improvement so I put it back on the floor. I'll try it when I get a new sub someday. I think my next upgrade will be a receiver. However it will be a while, maybe by Christmas this year or early next year. I was doing some research online on the Integra, but I find you can't purchase that brand online for some reason. If I can't get an Integra I may go back to Onkyo again. I really do like my current receiver, but it's old technology.

Getting the newer technology is the best, but as for brands and other receivers. You might want to rely on Steve or Olivier for help like I do.

I think a receiver in upgrade is better than a Sub.

Agreed on both points. And yes, I think a receiver will be the best thing to upgrade at this point.

I think the new Onkyos are really nice and now sound alike the Integras, I would target an nice Onkyo like the TX-NR708 or higher. Then you would be set for a while and considering the fact that the price should go down on it by X-mas as they will release the new models. I think you would be happy with it, I was not impressed by the 807 but current models are superior. The new x09 series are coming out, who knows you might catch a deal on the 708 or 808.

amazing deals here on refurb units.
