2. Rango (the animated character) was adorable and quirky as heck. Just terrific really. For me, all the other characters were animated to close to reality. Way to realistic looking and downright ugly. Some/most of the critters were so disgusting looking and creepy that it bothered me the entire flick. Grotesque instead of cute. Yep, that ugly.

3. The action scenes were sustained too long and over the top, disrupting the pacing.

4. I love foul language in films for realism. Deadwood But Rango belabored the fart, poop, pee, burp, anus, vomit and gags. Too much is not funny, its just too much.
1 and 3 I disagree with, I just can't make an arguement as too why, it's just personal prefrence.

2 I can see where you're coming from, I saw it as intentional, as to it fitting it's western genre, and I like that it was cute-ing the animals up for kids to adore, most of them are vermin and are not to be liked.

4 I don't see what's with this, I can only remember 1 fart joke (I hated it) and 1 burp joke (didn't bother me) I found most humour just to be in the very quick witted script, unless I missed something major

I agree with everything you praise though

What did you think of
[Show spoiler]"The Spirit of the West" and Raoul Duke's
cameos

Change your rating or I'll send Jigsaw to visit you.
Haha that was funny. Im sorry man but I have to keep my 5 star rating for this film. I believe this film is in my top 10 horror films of all time if Im not mistaken so it has to be 5 stars. Just the way it is. Now u go tell Jigsaw that! Got Em!!

I liked that.

[Show spoiler]Remember when they were all talking about what they found in their poops? Human vertebrae etc. Thy were describing in detail the texture of their fecal matter and kidney problems.

jumping in on the conversation about SAW's 5 star rating from Czar--

I give the original HALLOWEEN 5 stars (and probably a lot of other people
do as well)

Can I say the acting is top notch? no. (I don't find it terrible either as
I've heard some people say)

But for what the movie is-- yes, it's perfect.

My 2 cents

I saw Raging Bull and Taxi Driver for the first time. Decent films, dont think ill watch them again tho. Raging Bull was much better. They both displayed great acting by DeNiro but i dont think ill be watching these movies again. ONE AND DONE.

Oh agreed Halloween is a definite 5 star film. Its number two on my all time horror list. Not to knock horror films because it is my fav genre but acting isnt what makes these films great, its usually the execution of the film itself, the killer, (especially if its a slasher) the creepiness, creativity of the kills etc....Yes acting helps as there are some horror films with good acting like Orphan, The Ring etc.... but if the horror film itself is good enough with the elements needed then it can still be a great horror film. Got Em!!

Perfect = perfect. If its not perfect, it isnt perfect. It may be excellent, but its not perfect.

My 10 cents.

well let's just agree to disagree because I can hardly think of any film that's "perfect" in every catagory (acting, direction, writing, photography, music, etc etc)

there are a couple of films that may come close but even many of my favorite films have some minor thing I can think of that could have been done better... (and of course "done better" is strictly our own opinion so it's subjective in many cases..)

I disagree, if I enjoy the film to hell and no flaw can annoy me, then it gets a 10.

I think it's impossible to find a perfect film.

Thinking about perfect u are right but 5 star film to me means excellent, masterpiece etc...neither of those necessarily means perfect but in the movie world an excellent film to me is a 5 star film. Maybe that will clear it up. There may not be a 100% perfect film out there. I guess if u felt the film was excellent then thats what u go by. Got Em!!

Isnt the very definition of perfect to mean "having no flaws" or "flawless"?

I think movies can be "fantastic", "excellent", "Masterpieces", and still have flaws. But I wouldnt describe something with flaws as perfect.

I was using the term "perfect" because of your original post Squid--
I don't often call films perfect-- as I said most all films have some flaw--
"outstanding", "great", "awesome". whatever are terms I give 5 star films...
