Unlike most people out there,
I just recently bought a 55" Wide Screen TV. Upgraded from a 42". I do enjoy films like SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, GET SMART, & GET HIM TO THE GREEK filling the 55" screen. However, this doesn't mean that I don't enjoy movies that are 2:35.
I would never make any adjustments just to fill up my screen. I like the ORIGINAL ASPECT RATIO.
If a movie is 1:78, that's good. If a movie is 2:25 (or any variation of it), then that is good too.
When I had a standard 4:3 TV, I almost never looked for a movie that was labled, "FULL SCREEN", because this meant that it was cropped to fill a 4:3 screen.
The black bars on top and bottom of my screen doesn't matter to me as I have a 55" screen. What would bother me is adjusting the TV to fit a 2:35 movie and seeing everything tall and skinny.
I like BLU RAY because it depicts as close as possible the original theatrical experience.
Oh, and my TV is black all around, so the bars are virtually unnoticable.

Thank you Orbital Shark for the submission. I imagine Toy Story 3 would be fullscreen as all the other Toy Story movies as well as most other Pixar and CGI movies are....

That's interesting information to know. Thank you Goofnut. I wonder how many other Pixar movies are OAR but in 1.78:1 on disc. I wonder why the director/studio decides to push past 1.78:1 when most surely it would be in that aspect ratio on disc. I wonder if it would save time/effort/money doing so...

Thanks Orbital Shark for the suggestion. However, the thing is that my list/thread is unique and stands apart from other "search engine" lists because I had found that many blurays (more so before when blurays were just getting started) would state that they are one aspect ratio, but display on the TV in another aspect ratio. So, I started this list with the parameters of user suggested submissions with blurays that have been seen with physical eyes on a TV. Most likely this movie will be fullscreen, but seeing as it is not out yet and will be released on April 8th, I will have to wait til then to be physically confirmed that it should be on the list. Thank you though.

You're welcome. You can never tell what AR Pixar is going to use. Toy Story 3 was of course 1.85:1, but was altered to 1.78:1 for BD. Up however was shot in 1.78:1 and released in that ratio on BD. Their two titles before that were actually done in 2.35:1: Wall-E and Ratatouille.

As you can see from the pictures below...

Gulliver's Travels: 1280x544

Voyage of the Dawn Treader: 1280x720

Voyage of the Dawn Treader is clearly full screen compared to Gulliver's Travels which is 2.35:1/2.40:1

Image snapshot taken with VLC Player for purely educational purposes.

Update:
Amazon has it listed as 1.78:1 aspect ratio

Wow! This list/thread is alive again! A lot of submissions...
Thank you both for your contributions. Obviously, it adds to the list, which is simple enough, but you guys are making the list more comprehensive and full which is very much appreciated.

Thank you for confirming them with your own eyes. It is what makes the list unique and special and you contribute to that.

I see both your points. Again, please keep in mind that, although you obtained an early copy of the movie, we still cannot be 100% physically sure that it will display fullscreen because the official bluray hasn't been released yet until April 18th. I highly expect it to be fullscreen because of what your copy displays, but since it is yet to be released, we couldn't be too sure. Also, not that I am trying to disprove you or anything, but because you said you used VLC Player to take the snapshot, I know that VLC player can also resize/change a movie's aspect ratio display (as well as many other computer video players). Another thing to consider (based off your amazon url) is that you are referring to the UK amazon site that the data/specifications are showing up that it is in 1.78:1. The thing about that is, although I don't know of any precedent where this was the case, it may/could be that the UK version of the bluray is one aspect ratio while the US may be another. I can't recall for sure, but I believe I saw this once on a Region 2 bluray vs. a Region 1 (PAL vs. NTSC). I know certain blurays have released on Region 2 and still have yet to be released in the US/Region 1. It is because of these discrepencies that I started this list/thread to keep track of movies that may be misinforming and put up those that are physcally confirmed rather than taking the box/website specs at face value. I am not disproving or doubting your findings, but those facts may weigh into the confidence in the proof.
But, i can't imagine why one would go through the trouble of lying/tricking/falsefying it, so that in itself is reason for me to believe your claims/proof.
