Huh? you're "pissed" that the movies won't be spread onto two blu-ray discs? The choice to leave the feature film on a single dedicated disc is entirely separate from the decision not to upgrade the SD features from the old DVD EE set to a companion blu-ray.

I for one wanted two discs for the sake of high-quality reference transfers. So I'm pleased with the latest sort-of-not-really-but-maybe-this-is-news.

But that's not a given: if it's possible for transparent video to be presented on a single disc, then why not? OF COURSE if video would suffer, we'd all want two discs... but the folks calling the shots on this own wouldn't let it out on one disc if that were the case.

If this is a 15 disc set you would have to think 2 blus for each film (6 total) which is my hope. I dont want any chances taken on possible quality loss by cramming these films on 1 disc.......put each movie on 2 discs PLEASE! Either way, I cant wait, but I hope we get 2 discs per film.

It has to be done for ROTK but it's not necessary for the first two. To me, 4 hours is the cut off point where you have to split it. 3.5 to 4 hours is a slippery slope and anything at all under 3.5 hours has no business being split. Why are companies starting to do this for movies that it's not required to do so? Paramount did it with the Ten Commandments and now Warner is doing it for all of these when it's not necessary for 2 of them.

Seriously, this was one of the selling points for upgrading to blu-ray period and now they're gonna take this away? It's totally ridiculous in every way possible. When did this idea of simple convenience get lost in the shuffle?

I would rather they split them all instead of just ROTK........I dont like the idea of splitting JUST ROTK. Split all of them or none of them, but please split all of them AND give us 7.1 audio!

7.1 isn't happening. That's been confirmed. 5.1 just like the dvd sets. These are basically HD upconverts of the Extended dvd boxsets with an extra disc thrown in. 9 dvd's in a blu ray boxset is atrocious, especially for such a marquee title. If any of you have seen any my comments over the last few months about Ten Commandments then you know my stance on this. The only movies that are out or are coming out that have any reason whatsoever to be split are ROTK extended, Gettysburg and the extended version of Gods and Generals. Nothing else that I can think of right now needs to be split.

Someone mentioned this earlier and I pray they're dead wrong, but I won't be surprised that when the end of time comes and Lawrence Of Arabia is finally released to blu-ray, it'll be split too because the idea of customer convenience appears to be lost.

That's a lot of disks there!

I will probably just toss those extras away as I am not all that really interested in them, and just stick the three movie disks into a 3-BD case and print me a cover for it instead.

5.1 was confirmed? Where?

I dont give a hit one way or the other about the DVDs that are included.........just give me the movies on blu with 1080p and lossless audio and I will be happy! I would prefer 7.1 over 5.1 of course, but that is not a big deal IMO (and pulling for 2 discs for each film as I have mentioned).

It's in the Amazon.com listing. This is the from the listing:

The Quest Is Over: All three extended versions in dazzling 1080p and DTS HD-MA 5.1 Audio. Deluxe set includes over 26 Hours of spellbinding behind-the- moviemaking material, including the Rare Costa Botes documentaries, on 15 discs.

It's unnecessary for all those dvd's. If we're gonna keep the bonuses in SD, there's no reason in the world they can't all be combined onto 1 50GB blu-ray disc. This set should be 9 discs max and if they did it smart and didn't needlessly split 2 of the movies, it should be 7 discs.

I read that as well, but I am not taking that to heart just yet I need more "confirmation" then that. Its obvious that changes and details are still being adjusted.......we could very well see 7.1.

I do like the updated 15 disc spec though as this makes 2 discs per film very likely

This set cant come quick enough though........I have held off watching these movies for a few years or so in anticipation of a HD/lossless audio blu release

What is wrong with people? If you're too lazy to get up after two hours and swap the discs, you probably have some problems.

I rarely (if ever) trust WB to do a catalogue release properly without the input of the directors, and since it doesn't appear PJ is involved on this, extra disc space is probably a good sign.

Do we want to be fatties or do we want a good transfer? I'm sorry, but considering WB's track record, 2 discs are the way to go. Besides, if they did 1 disc and the quality wasn't perfect, everybody would whine again.

First people want better transfers, then when it looks like they might get them, they don't want it spread out over two discs. There's no pleasing people these days.

Of course, if there's only 20-30GB used per disc for the films and they still use six discs, I'll eat my words. But this could be a showcase piece if you all let WB do it right.

So you weren't impressed with Gone With The Wind, Wizard Of Oz, North By Northwest, King Kong 1933, 2001: A Space Odyssey?
