I watched a few videos on CNN where the water is sweeping in cars, and houses. I didn't see any people running, but I did see cars driving as fast as they can to get away.

Hopefully this isn't signs of 2012, but quakes have it's spurts from time to time.

Quiet Hurricane season last year which wasn't expected. I hope we Floridians, and USA in general will be lucky again this season.

According to a news report, this quake was a 180 times more powerful than the 1995 Kobe earthquake... God Bless Japan.

Before we get smart posts on this thread. I for one will admit that I play too much and goof off on this site, but this thread does not need any smart remarks or any jokes. Show some sympathy!

I'm at work right now and font know much of what's going on so I have a few questions. Do they have an idea of how many died? Did Tokyo get hit bad or not at all? Where did get hit?

It's a mistake:

Quote:
BBC saying Kyodo reports 88,000 missing but I think they're misreading 8.8度 (Magnitude 8.8) as 8.8万 (88,000). Kyodo site just says "many".

Would appreciate people RT-ing my previous tweet, BTW. Thanks to BBC's kanji-ineptitude, the "88,000" thing seems to be spreading.

Still it wouldn't be surprising considering the immense destruction. The tsunami wave was just obliterating anything in its seemingly neverending path. It's hard to imagine anyone surviving such raw power.

The official confirmed death is at least 300. This quake hit the northeast of Japan hard, and people in Tokyo felt the quake, but relatively speaking Tokyo is ok.

Quote:
Japan was hit by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded Friday, spawning a tsunami that hit the the island's east coast, killing hundreds of people. Many more are missing or injured. Below are organizations that mobilize relief efforts for countries hit by disasters.
This was taken directly from yahoo's website relief fund, mods please dont merge this with another other thread, thanks.. Come on guys we spend countless money on blus and games and other things, any donation will help, even if its only $10...
