Some more information as it looks as Michael Tabb is now in talks to pen the screenplay and word has it that it's going to be a sequel. Really hope we get more information soon and really hope it keeps an R rating like the remake.

Glad its a sequel rather than a reboot. Although there's no chance Hugo Weaving will be back and I was hoping if they made a sequel it would focus on him.

Yeah I don't think we will get any of the original cast back for this film so it will be cool to see how a sequel plays out.

This is going to be a bad movie. Its no longer related to the 2010 film and is called, Werewolf, The Beast Among Us.

You know I really enjoyed The Wolfman remake with Benecio and Emily....I thought it was very solid!! People probably hated this movie because it wasn't the original Wolfman....why do people resort to what was rather than what "is"? I can't ask this for Robocop's reboot because simply, that one's going to suck before it even comes out!!

I agree - I gotta be honest, I can't see why everyone hates on it as much as they do. It had much more potential than we saw in the finished product - with Joe Johnston directing, Benecio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins starring, it should have been a masterpiece - but it was a solidly made, entertaining popcorn flick that was never anything more than it wanted to be - a pure werewolf movie, in the style of the old Universal horrors. It was creepy and tense, the special effects were decent, and the acting was spot on; what more do you want?

Anyway, maybe people will give that version a bit more respect when this piece of complete garbage is watched by more people. It looks absolutely terrible.

I just watched it. I was scratching my head at the whole

bit towards the end. I was like; "WHAT THE HELL?" For a reboot, it was ok.

Not sure anything could be worse than the previous The Wolfman movie. But since this new installment is DTV, I might be wrong.

I didn't think the 2010 was that bad. They need someone like JJ Abrams or better yet, Guillermo del Toro to reboot the series.

But I thought it funny when Universal President Ron Meyer said, "We make a lot of s hitty movies". LOL

THE WOLFMAN?? "One of the worst movies we ever made...WOLFMAN and BABE 2 are two of the shittiest movies we put out. The script never got right...the director was wrong. Benicio [del Toro] stunk. It all stunk."

For a straight to video reboot, I honestly didn't think it was that bad. The Blu-ray.com review gave it a 2.5/5. I can agree with that rating.

The remake wasn't all that scary but I liked the blood and gore. If they wanna make it scarier for the audience, they should make Ron Jeremy as The Wolfman. Whoa!!!!

The Wolfman No Longer Getting A Sequel; Reboot Rumored To Be In The Works!

Quote:
According to a report over at Moviehole, the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston's The Wolfman will no longer be getting what would have more than likely of been a straight to DVD sequel, but instead a full on reboot from Universal.

Interestingly, the site point out that the new film will more than likely have no connection to the 2009 remake whatsoever, instead sharing far more in common with the original George Waggner movie from way back in 1939! They go on to report that the current Michael Tabb script is being totally rewritten and reworked in order to make it an original piece.

Oh, and the possible title for this new direction in the franchise? Werewolf is said to be a popular choice at the moment.

What do you guys think of this news? Are you pleased that Universal are deciding to give the franchise another chance, or is this a monster which should stay dead? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!
Happy we are getting another Wolfman movie but not another reboot. Hopefully this one is good and can stick around and not get rebooted anytime soon. Hate the name and really hope they change it back to Wolfman and maybe add a subtitle or something.

*facepalm*

The only reason I won't complain is because werewolves are my favorite movie monsters. More of them, in big budget films is never unwelcome to me. Just do it right this time...

The Wolfman had awesome werewolf scenes, all three of them. More screen time for the monster could have made big a difference. That being said, I didn't completely dislike it. So I have hope.

Exactly I love werewolf movies and the more the better I say even if it is the same movie 3 times. I loved the remake and thought the Werewolf design was really good but hopefully the werewolf get's more screen time in this remake.

"Reboots" (like the Wolverine sequel) are now what happens to hastily greenlit sequels, rather than go through the indignity of "apology" sequels.
That way, you don't have to fix the problems of the earlier one, you can just throw out the whole bathwater and start again.

Of course, it would be better NOT to have hastily greenlit the sequel in the first place (as it is in fact rather a long and expensive process for a studio to officially drop a movie project)--But Universal can't drop their Wolfman projects, as they have too much invested in getting their "Classic Monsters" brandname going again.
(Um, they could just try a Blu-ray,? )

Jut another quick update but it looks like Universal is starting to eye directors in the next few weeks for a possible Fall start date.

I'm really happy we are getting another Wolfman film but it's strange why Universal doesn't try remaking/rebooting another classic monster movie if they want to start the monster franchise again instead of trying to do the Wolfman movie over and over.
