Amazon is only one retailer. And they're giving away HD-DVDs with BOGOs.

Any thoughts???
There is a big Buy One Get One sale for HD DVD, including the Harry Potter catalog titles (movies 1-4).

Blu-ray BOGOs have a similar effect of pushing the rankings up.

One would assume that unless this BOGO is sponsored by the HD DVD PRG, the Warner titles will become available in a Blu-ray BOGO soon.

I could see a short bump for HD-DVD coming from Christmas fire sales and retailers featring Transformers on high quality TV's to push the junk. Joe six pack will even buy a couple movies for this soon to be forgotten toy. Thing is fire sales and the Transformers are HD-DVD's day in the sun, their one and only shining moment. The pinicle before the major decline to being the dust collector in the attic.

. . . in the attic. Right between the lava lamp and the Aroma-disc player.

Funny you should say that. There were comments just like that from retailers in the video business article that mentioned potter sales.

Quote:
Occupation: Owner of 3 Video retail stores

Owning 3 video retail stores, our sales of Harry Potter on blu ray sold 4 to 1 in favor of blu-ray. We have a ton of hd-dvd versions left of all the Harry Potter films and I will think very carefully before ordering the same way next time. I am going to have to heavily reduce them and lose money now.
Edit: I removed a couple of quotes due to length, but the link is to the comments section which you can view yourself. Basically the retailers had nothing but positive things to say about Blu-ray.

Hp gift set more than 2:1 in favor of BD.

5 BD only movies in the top 10 overall HDM for the week.
1 HD DVD only movie.
4 dual format movies.

Meaning. BD by itself accounted for 5 of the top 10, more than the number of WB titles in the top 10. BD showing its strength in install base, for sure.

300 BD selling 12.6:1 compared to HD DVD!!!!!!!!!!

Hello WB, my name is BD, care to see me exclusively?

So if I'm understanding the numbers correctly, the total of HD DVD's Potter box set and OOTP single disc are roughly equal to just the Blu-ray OOTP single disc alone. Nice.

Blu-ray OOTP_64.58....HDDVD OOTP_53.64
Blu-ray Box___14.49....HDDVD Box__11.16
Total________79.07______________64.80
