David, I think he was trying to be funny implying they should spread the films onto 3 discs/film for 9 discs total (for the films).

I'm honestly hoping they don't do a lazy transfer and have the 3 movies on 6 discs, that's ludicrous this day in age with blu tech. Unless some sort of guarantee came out that the PQ is being upgraded from the theatrical releases and that's why it's on 6 discs instead of 3 then I'd seriously have to reconsider purchasing, simply because it's a disservice to the viewing experience to pay for sub-par transfers.

I pre-ordered this without thinking, but I've been thinking about the critics; are these versions going to be of good quality? That is the point of blu-ray, after all. I want these to be exceptional.

If any of you have seen any my comments over the last few months about Ten Commandments then you know my stance on this. The only movies that are out or are coming out that have any reason whatsoever to be split are ROTK extended, Gettysburg and the extended version of Gods and Generals. Nothing else that I can think of right now needs to be split.

Someone mentioned this earlier and I pray they're dead wrong, but I won't be surprised that when the end of time comes and Lawrence Of Arabia is finally released to blu-ray, it'll be split too because the idea of customer convenience appears to be lost.
Hm please show me where the audio was confirmed it was 5.1 on the Extended Editions, if so then its a downgrade because the Extended Edition DVD are 6.1 audio not 5.1... so please until the studio releases the date and facts please stop speaking that what you heard is gospel and fact. You show me a dated press release prior to this post from New Line stating this and not a amazon picture then ill believe you and apologize for calling you out. Otherwise just hush please.

Think this is an issue where you can't have your cake and eat it too.You argue that a transfer on 6 discs instead of three leads to a sub-par transfer??!!Why not all three movies on 1 disc then But seriously:You know that in this aspect, the less compression-and they do need to compress them even for BD-leads more times than not to better transfer.

Maybe you meant sub-par viewing experience since one need to switch discs...

This post makes no sense. If they end up coming out on 2 discs per film, if anything it will support that MORE effort went into these and we would have a better chance of a higher quality transfer as opposed to slapping them on 1 disc and calling it a day (which would be the lazy way of the two). If we get 2 discs per film though, this certainly does not point (just the opposite) to a lazy transfer by any means.

I think he was implying that rather than making an effort to make the transfers look good they will take the easy route and do very little to the transfer and put it on 2 discs. These films can look really good on one disc it all depends on how they do it. Plus, there is already a mega set in the works so this is more of a holdover til then. I don't think they are going to spend a whole lot of time on this set.

Exactly. I love these films, but if these look like the theatrical editions did I probably won't buy them.

Blu of Summer 2011 right there!!!! That would be sweet if it ends up true. Way sooner than I expected and take some of the wallet crunching out of fall/winter.
