The comments from the retailers are awesome.

Playstation 3 people DO want BD movies.
Blu standalones selling like crazy.
Loving the hard coating for their rental biz.

Great to read.

wow! HP sold a lot better than we had been antipating. 300, im starting to think that movie is called that because it outsells the hd dvd version 300:1.

Remember that box set is a lot more important than any of those single SKUs and that box set kicked A$$.

Ken Graffeo officially looks like an idiot now. He is full of crap and I think we all have to agree that while David Vaughn can get the total numbers correct, he can't seem to get the ratios correct at all.

I also favor blu-ray for several other reasons, as do my customers. One of the big advantages is the scratch-proof coating. I have rented so many blu-rays to families that come back scratched and full of some type of gupe, and they wipe right off. Even the scratches magically wipe off. What more could a rental dealer ask for? Also, the customers are very aware of the large percentage of uncompressed soundtracks on these discs compared to hd-dvd. I

Wait! Scratchproof coating is BAD. Just ask the experts at AVSforum. It um, causes disk rot! Oh noes!

12.6:1 for 300? With high volumes according to vaughn.....holy hell.

Of note. How about Casino Royale with no specials destroying Transformers 1.33:1.......crazy.

HP combined set and single for HD DVD = 64.80
HP OOTP alone on BD = 64.58

Am I the only amused by the talk about confusion in the format war where they call out a man who bought Planet Earth on HD-DVD because he knows the person he's buying it for has an HDTV?

Almost spot on 1.2:1 for Potter and 1.3:1 for Potter box set.

re:Vaughn Which ratio do you think he did not have correct? He was dead on for Potter.

What ratios did Dave Vaughn get incorrect?

What is the link to the official numbers anyway?

Just to toss it out there for the Blade Runner week, the Moviestop that I go to STILL has never received the Blu version of the Ultimate Edition ( and has not sold one of the four hd versions that they did receive)

DVs numbers were 1.2:1 for OoTP and 1.3:1 for the box. Or it might have been the other way around cannot remeber but I know those are the numbers he gave.

That's wrong. It's about 14.6 to about 11.2 if you do the math, which is right at 1.3:1 for the box set.
