Default Shoot 'em Up

Just watching this tonight. I was expecting better PQ for a newer release. The color is off a little with a yellow tint/hue to the entire film. Intentional or not, I do not know, but the yellow kind of bugs me like it did in the movie Invincible.

The pic overall seems "clean", but lacking something. It also does not have any depth to it like POTC's. I would give the PQ a 4/5. I guess I was expecting too much.

The sound is good. It does have DTS-HD master 7.1 which I am thankful for, but I have heard better. During the non-shooting scenes, which there are few of, crank it up if you like guns and shooting, but some times in the movie it just seems like they forgot that it is 7.1 .

Any others watched this on Blu yet?

I bought Shoot Em Up today at Walmart $29.99. It is a long weekend and I could not wait until tuesday. Walmart puts a lot of Blu-rays for sale before they are supposed to. I was hopping to find War or RE Extinction, but no such luck. My brother lives around another WM and he will check for us tomorrow (I got him his copy of Shoot Em UP). Since we are all getting together to watch the fights tomorrow night, we can exchange the goodies then

No, I'm still glad I got it and to be fair to the movie, the close up scenes are a lot stronger in PQ than the rest of the movie. The last 20 min or so of the movie seem to be the best in PQ with a little less yellow tint to it also. I know, it sounds crazy, but that's the way it looked to me.

For those that have not seen the movie, Clive Owen can shoot like Jason Statham can drive a car in Transporter 2.

Stores do occasionally put out movies early.

Luckily no one reports them because from what I have heard, there usually is like a $15,000 fine per title that is released prematurely.

That's a good way to put it. It's typical Warner PQ.

I thought it was a great PQ/AQ movie.. one of the very few 7.1 audio ones anyways..

Definite demo material AQ wise for some of the scenes.. holy god.. I had to turn down my receiver.. my front speaker nearly fell off the damn stand

This is out on HD-DVD as well, I assume?

Saw it at my Wal-Mart for $30 - but was waiting to hear reviews on its PQ/AQ on this site before I gave it a buy; thankfully Monsieur Vette has this thread up already.

Isn't this a New Line title? I think the HD DVD version is scheduled for later in the year (with no specific date as of yet)

I think this will be a movie that you either like it or hate it, no in between. I really liked the movie and happy to see a 7.1 audio track. Gun shots everywhere!

As someone pointed out, it's from Warner (New Line) so I think again we are getting the "good enough" transfer for HD-DUD instead of the transfers we get with Disney, Fox and Sony.

It's hard for any of us to rate BD's here, because some may think it's great while others can live with it. It really depends on the reference material (BD's) that we all use to compare it to. I think about the newest Fox movies and Disney POTC's and work backwards. If someone was comparing this movie (PQ) to say Hitch, XXX and Tomb Raider, then this BD would be a 5/5.

Let's hope that Warner/New Line puts a more time into their transfers when they go Blu exclusive.

Yes, that's the insider way of telling them that they are screwed!
