That being said I hope we get laughed at if we moved to take him when every knowledgeable person says they wouldn't even take him in the first round.
They need to pickup Julio Jones and a Good Young LB, they can wreck havoc if they draft right

Yeah, that's why I don't believe they have real interest in Newton. This could be a situation where Holmgren thinks Newton is going to be a flop so he's trying to hype him up so some other team will overpay for him. Some people believe the Patriots used this strategy with Vernon Gholston. Before the draft all the stories coming out of New England were about how much Bill Belichick loved Vernon Gholston and hoped he was available, but after the Jets took Gholston 1 spot before the Patriots pick (and the Patriots traded down a 3 spots and took eventual Defensive Rookie of the Year Jerod Mayo) stories started to come out that the Patriots never had any intention of taking Gholston and were just trying to inflate his value and to mask their interest in Mayo.

A lot of draft gurus have them taking AJ Green instead of Jones, which would be weird as it would give the Browns 3 UGA targets for McCoy (Green, Massoquoi, and Ben Watson).

Can't go wrong between Green and Jones in my mind - both elite, exceptional players.

Definitely, either one will be a great addition to the team, they really need playmakers at the wr position.

Their secondary ios pretty good already, they just need some pass rush and a good ILB.

I watch them a lot being in ohio, and they can be dangerous if they play it right. They have the picks to do it.

I'm sure Supersix will love this: NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith will be the commencement speaker at the University of Maryland.

Thank god I'm not graduating (but I will be attending graduation parties )... I'd boo him and get kicked out. Lol only at UMD would that happen (choosing someone who went to UVA )

You'd think we could get someone awesome like Larry David, Sergey Brin, or Dan Snyder (he went I don't think he ever got a degree though).

I can see his speech now "and now that you young people have a degree, whatever you choose to do in life... I leave you with this final piece of advice. Take them for every cent they have. "

The nflpa is now saying they are just "recommending" players dont attend the draft.

That makes more sense....yesterday it seems like they were ordering them not to attend which like we said how could they do that.

Still a stupid recommendation.

Adrian Peterson lashed out at the owners, saying the NFL is modern-day slavery. Peterson and the players really need a PR boost, because statements like this and the NFLPA's draft stance are alienating the fans. Peterson really needs a reality check, because people are going to quickly turn on him when he compares the NFL to slavery when he's due to make over $10 million next season in the final year of his 5-year, $40 million contract.

Adrian Peterson is a moron on the level of Warren Sapp, both are great players but lack common sense and need lessons in public relations. I hope the Vikings cut him loose at the end of his contract after that moronic comment.

With stupid players like that, I'm not holding my breath. But just like in the NHL, NFL players will come to their sense.

Jeff Pash:

Quote:
* We incorporated new economic terms to try to bridge the gap. You’ve heard a lot of talk about an $800M gap. Nowhere close. Not close to factual.

* We offered today to split the difference and meet the union in the midpoint, with a player compensation number that would have been equivalent to player compensation in 2009 and above player compensation in 2010, and we offered grow it from there over four years by $20 million a club, to the point where in 2014 the player compensation number was the union’s number. It was the number the union proposed to us and we accepted it. That wasn’t good enough.

* We offered to guarantee for the first time in the history of the league, more than one year of injury on player contracts. Apparently not good enough.

* We moved off of our wage scale, and we offered to do a rookie compensation system within the context of a hard rookie cap as the union had proposed which would preserve individual negotiations and maintain the role of agents in the process. Evidently not good enough.

* We offered, in fact we agreed to the union’s request for a cash team minimum for the first time in league history. We agreed to it at their number and their structure. Evidently not good enough.

* We told the union that for 2011 and 2012, we would play within the existing 16-game regular season format, and we committed to them, notwithstanding the rights we have in the current agreement, we would not change to 18 games without their consent. Evidently not good enough.

* At the same time, we agreed to implement wide ranging health and safety changes, reducing the offseason program by five weeks, reducing the practice time in the preseason, reducing the practice time and contract drills during the regular season and expanding the number of days off for players. Evidently not good enough.

* We offered to increase the benefits in a wide range for both current and retired players. Under the proposal we had tendered, retired players who left the league before 1993, would experience an increase in their retirement benefit of close to 60 percent and the union, which says it represents former players, walked away from that today.

We’re discouraged, we’re frustrated, we’re disappointed, but we are not giving up. We know this will be resolved in the negotiation process and we will be prepared to come back here any time the union is ready to come back here.

According to Bengals.com, Chad Ochocinco's time with the team "would all but end" if Cincinnati drafted A.J. Green at No. 4 overall.
We'll be surprised if Ocho is on the 2011 roster, but not because we think he's going to get Pipped by A.J. Green. Declining on the field and a cancer off it, Ochocinco isn't worth his $6M salary. The Bengals are trying to get back to a run-first, smash-mouth offense complemented by tough defense. If they don't draft a quarterback, look for them to draft for defense.

You know why? Because the owners don't want to open their books. Not just because of the player's, but because of their other owners as well. Are teams losing money? Sure after they pay their "president" and other "management" ten million apiece. Jerry Jones doesn't want to let it be known how much he pays to have his kids "run" his business.

Well yeah some owners make considerably less than others and they probably don't want everyone to know that or the owners sharing profits thing will probably be threatened.

The league consists of 32 teams, not the 6 richest ones. If players want more money because the wealthier teams make billions, what will happen to the other teams?

I guess they'll actually have to sell naming rights to their stadiums.

Should the players take less money because some of the owner's in the league are inept?

Players are paid well enough to be fine. Owners are the ones taking risks, by owning a business, and like every business in the world, it can fail.

To that end, players are taking risks, too. If they get hurt, they don't get paid (most of the time).
