A year ago this month, a-ha launched their final world tour in South America. The Ending on a High Note tour was a live celebration of a-ha’s 25 year career, which included stops in 63 cities in 21 countries, and culminated in four concerts in their home town of Oslo last December. The band’s last ever live concert took place on December 4, 2010, and was recorded for release on DVD.

[The BD] will include a documentary and a gallery of photos by Stian Andersen.

The first confirmed release date is April 1 for Germany and Norway; the rest of the world will follow soon after (full release schedule still to be confirmed). There will be an NTSC version available for fans in North America and Japan as well.

*Please note the Bluray version will likely come out on April 8 or 15 – we will post an update when we have more information.
A-ha played four farewell concerts in their hometown, Oslo. The first homecoming farewell show was November 30th. I attended the three last ever a-ha concerts: December 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2010. I rate the December 2nd and 3rd concerts 8/10, and the very last maybe a 9/10, as they gave a bit more the last night, and Morten sang even better on Scoundrel Days!

I highly encourage even the most casual a-ha fan to buy this concert film!

I do not believe the concert film to only have material from December 4th. December 3rd had the motorized camera dolly running on tracks behind the drumkit between the one side and the other side of the stage. On December 4th it was at the front of the stage, running along the crowd barrier. The crane camera was in the center-right area of the floor on December 3rd and on the front left on December 4th. So if the finished concert film has dolly shots from the front and the back of the drumkit, and/or has crane shots from two different positions – which I believe it will have – then the film is cut from at least two shows, the December 3rd and the December 4th show.

In addition to the camera dolly and the crane camera, they had numerous big camera rigs near the audio mixing desk, and there might have been handheld cameras and other fixed cameras too. And they most likely stored footage coming off the cameras feeding the video wall for all the Oslo shows.

Haha, was there not just a couple of Bond movies in the 80's?

I love the song, and a-ha really knew how to perform this song live, literally leaving the audience breathless!

Actually there were five Bonds in the 80's. The 90's only had three. I'd put the Aha song behind For Your Eyes Only and A View To A Kill

The sad truth is that A-ha is thought to be a "one hit wonder" here in the U.S. I have purchased all nine of their studio discs via import and its a shame they never got the full support of Warner Bros. Music here in the U.S. They were so much more than a relic of MTV and the 80s. I owned the DVD of "A-Ha - Live at Vallhall - Homecoming (2001)" and wish I had never sold it (It now costs a small fortune if you can find a Region 1 copy). I'll be picking up this disc if it is region free.

Yes!!! The best being Duran Duran.

Cool to see Norwegian bands releasing Blu-ray's. The DeLillos Blu-ray looks awesome, so I have high hopes for this one.

That's sad indeed. And they have made so much better music than Take On Me!

Complete video of The Living Daylights:
http://go.universal-music.de/a-ha/light/video/251112/

Wow! This really got my blood pumping! I just got a whole lot more excited for this BD now! Love the drum rolls in this song!

The footage is mixed from both the December 3rd and 4th concerts, evident by the dolly shots both from behind the drumkit (Dec 3rd, 1:52-1:54) and in front of the stage (Dec 4th, 3:54-3:58).

A big difference between the Dec 2nd show, and the Dec 3rd and 4th shows, is that during the last two the audience was constantly lit up with blue or green lights. I noticed around 40 extra spotlights hanging from the arena ceiling, plus a few spotlights on the side of the stage, that wasn't in use Dec 2nd. This extra lighting did disturb my concert experience, as concert audiences should only be lit up by stage lights when "it makes sense". But the extra lighting was necessary for filming if audience reactions should be visible on film when not lit up by stage lights. So to sum up, I'm glad I also attended the Dec 2nd show, as it was a more proper concert, and not a film shoot!

As for the audio, I don't know, I can't remember subtle differences between the last two nights.

I agree. They've been my favorite band since I was a kid, and "Take on Me" is still my favorite song. I saw them in Chicago last year in May when they stopped in the U.S. as part of their farewell tour. Without a doubt, one of the greatest experiences of my life. I'll probably pass on buying this Blu, but the memories of being at the concert will last a lifetime...

I do not know whether my experiences proper enough for you, but after setting my otherwise Multi Region Oppo player to „Region A”, the disc worked just fine /I bought the disc from grooves – inc., so I think it is the „german” release, even though I have the hunch, it will be the same everywhere – at least the blu-ray itself is fully english/.
The disc is OK quality – wise, I have seen better and worse concerts on blu-ray so far; and my reference was their live concert in Budapest, where I had the chance to be participate in last year.

I couldn't make the L.A. date and it was a tremendous letdown. I heard great things about the show. I'm jealous.

Very sorry to hear you weren't able to make any of the shows in L.A. Yeah, the Chicago show was an incredible experience and I wouldn't have missed it for the world (they only played one show in Chicago, but I believe they played 2 or 3 in both New York and L.A.). I'd always wanted to see them live, but thought I'd never get the chance since they hadn't toured the U.S. since the release of their "Hunting High and Low" album in 85' (and I was still a little too young to be going to concerts by myself at that point). The Riviera Theater was the perfect environment to see them in (it's an intimate venue), and no matter where you are standing, you can see and hear perfectly, plus, the max capacity of the place is around 2,300 I think, and for the show there was probably less than 2,000. Again, one of the most memorable experiences of my life, and I could not believe how good they looked (and sounded) considering their age. Unlike a lot of other musicians/rock stars who abuse their bodies excessively with drugs, alcohol, etc. you can tell the A-Ha trio has taken care of themselves. I'm so thankful to have had the opportunity to see them, and while I will miss their music (or the chance to ever get to see them play live again), I firmly support them in their decision to retire while they still look and sound great, instead of hanging around way past their prime like a lot of other musicians do. They'll always be my favorite band, and I wish them the best in their future endeavors...
