I own copies of "Let Me In" and "Let The Right One In" on Blu-ray but I haven't seen either movie.
I also own a copy of the book "Let the Right One In" by John Ajvide Lindqvist but I have not read it yet. For those that have seen both movies and possibly even read the book, what order would you recommend I take for these three items? Thanks, Zak |

I haven't read the book but I would say...
Original film Book Remake Without getting into any detail, the remake is very good but not, I think, as good as the original. The remake also omits or softens a few plot elements. I think reading the book between them would have given me a fuller idea of exactly what trade-offs and compromises both films made and for me part of the fun of watching remakes is looking for the differences in approach and execution. |

I had Let Me In in my hands today but put it back on the shelf (I've promised myself I'll get it later this week). I haven't seen the Swedish film yet but I've read the book. It's quite graphic in it's depictions and I'm not a big horror novel fan. It put me off the film a bit so I might watch the remake first (or 2nd after the book) and then Let the Right One In. Then if the original film is better it's just going to enhance my experience.
So for me it's Book, Re-make and then Original film. |

That's not to say there's no gore but they're both very good at getting their chills from substance and atmosphere rather than shock and splatter. |

Personally for me, I would like to see the film first, then the book.
Reading the book first always ruins the movie for me, since the book usually gets so much detailed that movie always feel inferior(with few exception -ex. Lord of the Rings). Also I usually don't like the changes made by the movie. Reading the book afterwards usually fills in the gap or make me understand the feelings or thought process of the characters better, so it's still exciting to read the book after the movie. However, if I read the book first, then I would just be looking for what changes they made, and not really enjoying the film as it is. So always a movie for me, then the book - just my personal preference. And always watch the original first, then the remake. |

I tend to agree.
I think book first takes away the impact of the movie a lot more than the other way around. The only downside to film first (and sometimes it's a significant downside) is that it's often impossible to get the actors out of your head and imagine the characters as written. |
