Canada Mr. Nobody Blu-ray release

Mr. Nobody has been announced for a Canadian Blu-ray release.

Quote:
Nemo Nobody leads an ordinary existence at his wife's side, Elise, and their 3 children until the day when reality skids and he wakes up as an old man in the year 2092. At 120, Mr. Nobody is both the oldest man in the world and the last mortal of a new mankind where nobody dies anymore. But that doesn't seem to interest or bother him very much. The only questions that preoccupy him in the present is whether he lived the right life for himself, loved the woman whom he was supposed to love, and had the children whom he was meant to have... now his purpose is to find the right answer.

Thumbs up Woohoo!

This is my favourite film of the year, by about a thousand kilometres. Already got my pre-order in.

For those that are unaware of this amazing and epic film, it is sort of a sci-fi epic, about life, love, and the decisions we make; spanning many years in different timelines: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485947/

Pretty happy I did not jump on the French release since the distributor seemed to incorrectly label it as region-free according to some of the posts in the France forum here. Anyway, pretty excited for this and wanted to get the word out since it may have flown under the radar.

Exclamation New cover art.

Yep, I'm excited too, in case you could not tell from my previous post.

Looks like there is new cover art for the N.A. release; up at Amazon (not sure how to grab the actual picture to embed it here):
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0045I3EJM/ref=oss_product

I don't think I like it as much as the French release, which I believe is just a copy of the poster art, but it looks ok.

Not a fan of the new cover art at all, but I'll get over it.

Does anyone else wish that some director (perhaps Dormael), would set a film in that
[Show spoiler]Mars megacity
that we got to see a brief glimpse of in the film?

Give us a film with the same subtle human drama/romance, perhaps with a bit of action-adventure (heavier on the adventure) but actually
[Show spoiler]make the "present day" period of the film be a Mars megalopolis in 2092
. Perhaps a bit lighter on the convoluted time jumps and what not.

I loved the film, but it was the few seconds that we get to see of
[Show spoiler]"downtown Mars"
that really had my inner Sci-fi geek screaming. I literally said to myself "that place looks f***ing awesome..." to when I saw it. Reminded me of
[Show spoiler]Mass Effect
a bit.

Imagine Chungking Express in a
[Show spoiler]massive, futuristic Mars city.

It was to convey the fact that almost everything we saw was pure imagination. Although on my first watch, it took my awhile to realize what was going on, especially the way the story jumped back and forth.

So excited for this release. Definitely picking it up.

I understand why it was done, and that was partially my point. Instead of using the
[Show spoiler]it was all his imagination
explanation, set a film that tackles some of the same issues, or tells a similarly beautiful story, but set on
[Show spoiler]Mars in 2092
.

I don't know if I'm making a ton of sense, but the mood of those scenes (
[Show spoiler]on Mars
) made me wish that someone would simply make a film much in the same way that they might make an existentialist drama set in the year 2010, but on another planet, in another world. Something about that sounds like it could be awesome.

A.I. was a film in that mold (though it was set on Earth), but I feel like there are so many Sci-fi novels that are ripe for adapting to film that I hope another director gets $50 mil to make one of them. I simply saw glimpses of what could be in this film and got a bit excited.

Unhappy Delayed.

Looks like there is delay of about a month:

We wanted to let you know there's a delay with one or more items in the order you placed on October 29 2010.

"Mr. Nobody (Blu-Ray)"
Estimated ship date: January 11 2011
Sucks; I was hoping to have it before Christmas.

This thread kinda came outta nowhere and after reading about the film, I am intrigued. Kinda puts me in mind of Coppola's Youth Without Youth.

I thought the blu ray looked fantastic! BUT I still have no idea what that movie was supposed to be about or what message it was trying to convey! I thought the movie was alright, just didn't quite get it.

Mr Nobody was one of the best and most interesting movies from last year and the canadian blu ray looks and sounds fantastic. The cheapest I found it for price+shipping to the US was from cdplus.com.

I think in a nutshell, the purpose was to show how one small decision can greatly affect the life of the decider, along with the people he/she knows, and sometimes even the entire world (record-setting age). A little cliche, but in the movie, to get away from choosing one side over the other, he kind of created his own choice by [spoiler]not choosing a parent at the end. And of course, we don't see how things end up when he does that, which means it's something yet to be lived out. Exactly how life should be...[spoiler]

Very well put. A movie you will need to rewatch a couple of times to get it all, so much is happening and the cinematography so amazing that it's a bit much at first watch which is why some don't get it. Rewatch it another time, different movie and so on. Already in my top 50 movies and I only watched it once, felt like watching it the following night but decided to wait a bit to be as amazed by the scenery. Great transfer, def a solid 4.5/4.5, 4 for extras and I'ld say a 4.5 total. Even at the price it is someone could just do a group buy, then it would be maybe $24-25, def worth the import. Entertainement One is new here but looking forward to more of their releases, got 22 Bullets coming in, will fil out the specs for that one.

Don't miss out on this one. E1 seem to start off well up here. 22 Bullets might also be interesting.

Hey guys, can any of you kindly advise if the Canadian Blu-ray is region A only or is it also region B compatible.

I have the French release but would like to enjoy the movie without French subtitles (I tried everything and cant seem to knock them off). I would also like to hear the commentary and view all the extras in English as my French is non-existent so looking to import

Thanks in advance

You could order safely, yeslek. The Canadian release is REGION-FREE.

We will post a detailed review this weekend.
