Default Who let the BLU out!

So I just got back from Best Buy and saw something I've never seen before here where I live.

Blu-ray section was packed with people, I could barely squeeze in. What happen? Where are all these BLU coming from? Everyone was holding at least 4 to 6 Blu-ray movies in their hands.

Of course this may not be new to most of you guys, but here at my Best Buy, it's never this packed before. Especially the Blu-ray section. Blu-ray shelf are 3, HD-DVD only has 2, while some are scattered elsewhere.

Two Blu-ray movie being displayed. Two of them! I normally only see one movie on display, but now two. I wish I had my camera with me, I could of capture this chaos.

OK, now I know this is nothing new or anything, but HD-DVD section has zero people. No one was there at all, but the Blu section was extremely crazy.

We had people discussing with each other how amazing Blu is here. Better yet, I had a girl speaking to her friends "Have you been to Blu-ray.com? I've read about everything there, got me going Blu."

I'm not joking or Exaggerating either. I'm serious.

Anybody else see a surge of Blu fans getting higher in your area lately?
It got pretty crazy down here all of a sudden. I was happy, it seems people are seeing the light now.

Oh, every time I go to Best Buy or Future Shop... I always see someone browsing in the Blu-ray section. HD DVD... not so much.

I just got back from my local Best Buy also. And, yes, the Blu-ray section was pretty crazy. So crazy in fact that I didn't stick around to find what was on for $29.99.

No Blu's for me today, but it made me feel warm inside.

Has anybody seen the new Blu-ray ad videos. They don't look half bad. It was amusing that they chose the colours blue and yellow for the ads to. That be the Best But brand.

That's great to hear. It's pretty much the same with the Best Buy near me. I never see people looking for HD DVD movies but always someone in the Blu Ray section. Maybe this explains why even though Amazon rankings are good for HD DVD, they still lose in Nielsen's.

Yea, I picked up Pans Labyrinth, Hellboy, Rush hour 3, Terminator 3.

Although I've seen all of them already, but I need it in Blu for my collection.

I haven't seen Cars yet though, so I picked that up, plan on watching it later tonight.

i havn't personally seen this kind of crowdedness, however, i have seen traces of it when i go shopping for blus. The blu-ray shelf looks like a tornado went through it. I mean out of my target I think they carry 30-45 titles, and about 7 of them were completely sold out, about 25 had 1-2 copies left and the rest had 3-5 copies left of the movies. hd dvd on the other hand had planet earth sold out and every other title had 4+ copies just sitting there. and i don't even think target is that big in HDM. Best Buy, WalMart, CC, all the blu-rays have about 1/2 the stock of the hd dvds (which kind of makes since given the nielsen's)

I was at a Best Buy today and was alone in the Blu Ray section

Also at Circuit City,.. I was alone there too But a really cute salesgirl walked up and asked me if I was finding everything ok. I don't remember exactly what I said but she certainly caught me off-guard.

I want to go back to my local Best Buy and pick up something on Blu Ray. I'm trying to wait for Tuesday to get Resident Evil 3 but the wait is killing me.

Aw I'm sorry to hear that. I wish you could join the party over here.

I think it all started when everyone open their Christmas present and finds a Blu player.

I've noticed an increase in the number of people I'm having to avoid while shopping in the Blu section at my local BB. The last four times I've been there, I've seen only one person looking at the red section. I think he muttered something about renting it instead...

I might head over to the local BB this evening to check out the scene there. Prior to Christmas the Blu aisle always looks disheveled and half empty while the red aisle was always packed to the gills. I wish they would just nix them altogether so there was more room for blu. The Magnolia guys always use a red palyer to run all the tvs. I keep asking them why and they keep giving me untold amounts of BS. I guess they're big Transformers fans .

Cool Along the Same Lines of Blu. . . .

Along as the same lines as this thread, I have noticed more Blu-Ray displays here in Lawton, Oklahoma. I just got back from Sam's where I picked up my 50th Blu-Ray title, "Unforgiven" for only $19.99. Sam's has greatly increased their display of Blu-Ray films. I would say about 15 columns by five rows of Blu-Ray titles. I only saw ONE HD-DVD movie (Shrek 3) and only about 3 copies of that one movie. We have two Wal-Mart's and the newer one has a good display of Blu-Ray movies and HD-DVD movies (about 5 to 4 ratio). The older Wal-Mart hides the Blu-Ray movies with the PS3 systems and you have to ask to look at them (what a pain). Hastings is another good place in Lawton to pick up Blu-Rays and they have a 5 to 3 ratio of Blu to HD. Even the local PX on Fort Sill has increased their display of Blu-Ray titles (5 to 2 ratio). I can see the difference in Blu-Ray availability from last March when I first went Blu to now. While I love to order from Amazon, there are times when I want to buy a Blu-Ray RIGHT NOW! Now I have several choices in town. Go Blu

I was checking out at Best Buy last week with my new copy of David Gilmour's Remember That Night (which is awesome by the way). The guy in front of me was buying a few things and I noticed a Blu disk in his cart. I looked behind me and a lady was holding a Blu disk!
Looks like people have figured out the superior format to go with.

I saw a guy looking at HD DVDs the other day. I laughed, spat on him, then kicked him in the nuts and stole his girlfriend. He looked at me, frowned, and said "I deserved that."

The Blu sections at Futureshop, Bestbuy and Walmart are always busy with Blu shoppers. On the December 26 the Blu display ( 4 sides, 2 for Blu, 2 for Red) stand at Walmart was sold out 95% while the HD DVD side of the stand still had about 90% of movies still on the shelf.

Are you going to be OK with T3 in 1080i instead of 1080P? I would not settle for any recent motion picture release if they were below 1080P but that's just me.

OK, I usually try to be more eloquent, but this just kicks ass. I mean, we've seen this sort of thing going on at various locations from other people's stories, but the overheard comment just is the best. I know we do our share of cheerleading and venting about the other format, but I think anyone really comparing our little patch of Blu to most other areas of HDM discussion can tell the difference. It also doesn't take too much effort to see the differences between our insiders and both the fake, the pseudo, and the real insiders elsewhere.
