United Kingdom Any behind the scenes footage for restoration?

I had no idea where to post this, so, seeing as I'm primarily after BD's in the UK, I guess this is the best place.

I'm interested in seeing some kind of documentary or behind the scenes footage on how the studios perform restoration on movies for blu-ray release. I've read plenty about 2k and 4k masters, etc, but I've never actually seen a video showing the process. I was therefore wondering if there are any movies on BD that include such a behind the scenes video.

The only one I can think of is Dr. No, but that extra also appeared on the Ultimate Edition DVD from 2006 as it's the same remaster.

The restoration featurette included with The Godfather trilogy was very interesting.

Lots Bd/DVD's have little featurettes. or you can try YouTube. I haven't seen that many when they discuss making the HD master for Blu-ray or preservation though.

I watched one on the WWII Sherlock Holmes by the UCLA and they were talking about putting the films on polyester film as it lasts a lot longer. Your best bet is the films themselves if they're old and get re-released in the cinema they often go through restoration. Like the Hitchcocks, The Godfather movies Metropolis etc.

The Metropolis BD has a 55 minute documentary on the rediscovery of the movie in 2008 and some people discuss the restoration process.

But like it's been said, the only ones I've seen are on Dr. No, The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind.

I, too, am very interested in seeing film restoration documentaries, especially with the power of Blu-ray.

Whilst not strictly about the restoration, I have just remembered the 7.1 surround sound feature on Sleeping Beauty, where it talks about how it was created.

Off the top of my head I have 2 Blu's with restoration featurettes - Baraka, and The Sound of Music. I think Gone with the Wind has one as well but that was more for the dvd edition (but it's also on the Blu-ray)

There's also a similar extra on BBC's Pride and Prejudice series BD.

Se7en has the best, I'd say, as it goes through the process step by step, various examples of differences before and after, all explained well.

This release has one of the very best comparison pieces I have seen:

This release has the type of technical featurette I believe you are looking for:
