Default D-box?

I just got Broken Arrow in the mail today. On the cover it says D-box motion code equipped. Can anyone tell me what that is?

its a machine you can hook up to a chair that moves the chair around based on inputs from a movie.

d-box is a motor hooked to your dvd/blu-ray player and your chair or couch and when watching the movie it moves your seating to simulate like you are in the movie. check out the info on D-box.com

my friend has a system in a leather couch that has powered recliners in it. they are called butt kickers and they are pretty cool. i watched polar express at his house and it was incredible with those in the couch. although they are expensive they certainly add some pazazz to the movie.

Basically, you know what force feedback game controllers are like? D-Box is a force feedback chair for movies...

You want a cheaper solution? Get one of those electric massage chairs and hit the button when you see something explode on screen.

D-Box isn't a bass shaker

It's got actual hydraulics, so it moves your chair around. If you're watching Master and Commander, your chair rocks with the waves, star wars you twist and turn (sort-of) with the onscreen action.

In the end it's a highly expensive gimmick that no doubt Fox is being paid to include and as soon as their 25 titles or whatever are done, it'll go byebye unless DBox reups

For you maybe...and yes, right now, unfortunately, me too. However, there are plenty of people who can afford a $7000 chair, even more who can afford a $3600 platform for an existing chair, and yes, there are even some who can afford to get the Odysee system ($20k plus).

The important thing to remember is that just because you cant afford it does not mean that NO ONE can!

Truly this is the next level in home theater. You really have to experience it to believe how much of an impact motion makes when watching a movie.

Actually, I could probably spend the money on it if I wanted to, but what I meant was, it's way to expensive for what it actually is.

Is that subjective. Sure. But people complain about prices around here all the time.

Here is a link to the website: http://www.d-box.com/

I believe there are some video clips out there showing this off. My actual live demo was at a local "Street of Dreams" where they demoed the D-Box with Star Wars Episode 1 the Pod Race. It was pretty cool!

I should also mention that if you go to the "Where to buy" link (left column) and select your location, you may find a place that has a live demo. It is worth checking out if interested and if you have the spare cash, well...

But not even approaching the same thing a Dbox. If if you get a decent sub, you won't need shakers.

I dunno, a friend had shakers with a dual SVS setup

It was pretty cool

It's a neat feature I guess, but personally I'd rather spend that $$ on a very very comfy static chair
