When people ask one another, "have you seen the latest leonardo di caprio film?" they are referring to the ones he STARS in...so therefore, INCEPTION.

When people ask if they've seen the latest Martin Scorcese film...what do you think they are referring to? The ones he STARS in or DIRECTS?

USE YOUR BRAINS PEOPLE...Karan Johar is known as the director for some of the biggest films ever. He is NOT known for the films he produces (partly), or the ones he writes for.

I stand by my original statement. THREAD TITLE IS INCORRECT. I have the temerity at least to QUESTION things and REPORT THE TRUTH...not bend it to suit my own needs and defend a mistake.

As for K3G, I'll take the REM version of the film...RE-ENCODE for proper colours and put all 3 BluRays to SHAME. Ask around about me. THIS is something I do regularly.

I'll take a BLURAY DISC with the fewest mistakes...ANYTIME ANYDAY

ok take ONE last example.....we all here on blu-ray.com and zulm refer to yash raj blu rays....the 10 blu ray batch of yash raj....so does it means the 10 movies produced by yash raj or 10 movies directed by MR Yash RAJ Chopra???!!.....

you dont know me ask people on blu-ray.com MANY do....!

and such a small thing you are answering in three posts..! i dont need to do homework for all this ... i know this..

so many unnecessarily caps...

i usually hate getting involved in arguments people have here, because they're so pointless. But the topic is Karan Johar so I feel the need to say this:

He may not have actually directed KHNH, but it basically is a KJo film. The story was his, and he produced it (which is a big deal, producers, especially people like KJo and Adi Chopra are never 'only' or 'partly' producers). And look at Nikhil Advani's films after KHNH. His direction is so heavily influenced by Karan in it, and that influence doesn't show in his following films. (probably why none of them have done well)

notice how none of the words I used are all in caps?

just want to say i don't want to offend anyone.

I am not a reviewer anyway but Mark my words, for KJo films, Sony is the bestversion out there yet. Do not buy Yashraj. For the convenience of friends like u , I bought both the versions and spent a whole day analysing and posted an detailed comparison thread on the main page- READ IT.

thanks mate, been reading all the thread, the sony versions have had very good feedback, thats why i was holding out too buy them , when i go too india on thursday

so i will stick too my guns & buy the sony version when i get there

DSR you are wrong, all three films are produced by Karan Johars production House "Dharma Productions" and film doesn't belong to an actor or director, it belongs to the producer. So all three films are correctly called Kjo Films. yes people mostly call a movie the actors, even i do at times but in the end it is the producers film.

^ you miss MY point. KJo is NOT the sole producer of KHNH!!! you guys can't get that through your thick skulls!

i don't care WHO influenced WHO. it's still a director's movie..in this case Nikhil Advani.

KJO is not some brilliant director himself. HE SUCKS...compared to anyone else...let's say Godard, Fellini, Bergman, Scorcese, Yash Chopra, the great Bengali director whose name isn't coming to me, Kurasawa. I'd rather watch a Nikhil film than KJo film ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

I still go see a KJO film...make no mistake about it...but in MY opinion, he's a horrible director and writer. He's gotten very lucky to have star-driven vehicles. Had ANY OTHER NON-NAME ACTOR starred in those films...I highly DOUBT they would have been as big hits as they were.

Yash Chopra acheived greatness many times with no-names...a few being the exception. Same with Kurasawa, Bergman, Godard, Fellini, etc etc...

he is the sole producer..... its produced by HIS production house. The movies story and screenplay are also by Karan Johar. Also im not comparing him to other directors so i dont know why thats being brought up, i can see where you are coming from and i dont mean this in a negative way but in the end it is Karan Johars film.

I think with Yash Raj since it is so big you think of production, but with Karan you think of director and his production company is named Dharma Productions, at first I thought he directed KHKH, but he didn't. The movie is still good and the movie is technically his because he bought those services from the director, but it really isn't a big deal

Kal Ho Naa Ho

Produced by
Anadil Hossain .... line producer: New York
Hiroo Johar .... associate producer
Karan Johar .... producer
Yash Johar .... producer
Ganesh Nankoosingh .... line producer

from IMDB and other sources

You folks STILL WON'T GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS
He is NOT the sole producer!!! What part of that don't you understand?

The DIRECTOR made this film...in the END, it is HIS film. Do you know what PRODUCER MEANS? It means you have provided the FUNDING! You didn't MAKE the effing film! I don't care if KJo slept with the director, gave him some hand jobs, slept with the whole crew...IT'S NOT HIS FILM!!

This is a Nikhil Advani film. SIMPLE. At award time, the PRODUCERS pick up the award for BEST PICTURE...because they OWN it...Nikhil still DIRECTED the movie!

i think this topic should end up now....! now your answers for the final time

hiroo johar (karan johar's mother)
yash johar (his father)

anandi hossain and ganesh nankoosingh (line producers- now you mr farooq they are not the producers they are just employed by the producers of the film and they dont actually produce the film it is very much a karan johar film as much as band baaja baarat is a aditya chopra film ....though there are many executive producers line producers but they are not the producers of the film and in layman's language IT VERY MUCH IS A KARAN JOHAR FILM....why fighting for a baseless point and giving stupid answers to proove this silly point......challo theek hai maan gaye nahee hai karan johar kee film theek hai abb!! BAAT KHATTAM!!!)

I certainly do not agree with the tone and language used by 'Dead Rippers Society' to make his point, but I do agree with him that the title of this thread is not totally correct and that it does tend to suggest that it is referring to movies directed by Karan Johar. When someone refers to a 'Yash Raj' movie, I personally do not take it to mean that is directed by Yash Chopra, or for that matter by 'Aditya Chopra'. After all, one would not refer to 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' as a Yash Chopra movie, so why would we refer to 'Kal Ho Na Ho' as a Karan Johar movie?

Having said that, I would also like to clarify that a movie is supposed to belong to the 'producer' and not the 'director'. In fact all 'Best Movie Awards' are given to the producer and not the director. Also, a producer is not neccesarily the one who funds the movie, that would be a financier. The producer is actually the person who puts the whole project together and he/she plays a major role in every stage of making the movie. It is a different matter all together that at times, certain names for eg. Hiroo Johar in the example of KHNH, are only added on as producers with them actually having zilch inputs. There are numerous reasons why names are added on to the producers list, such as big names being added as producers/associate producers, only for marketing reasons.

ouch.. a little tension in the house!??

I had an opportunity today to compare the Yash Raj to the Sony blu ray in my theatre on my 3 mtr screen. My view... a night and day difference! The Sony image is sharper and darker than the slightly washed out YashRaj version. Thoroughly impressed! Time to now double dip on the other 2. Why Yash Raj couldn't get this right the first time i dont know.

The image didnt look anymore cropped than the Yash Raj one to me at all...

No english audio my friend. Just the subs. You couldn't do english audio over those songs either.. Way too much of a job!

Got to say the movie structure, menu's etc is completely rubbish. A still image. Trash. Zero extras. Movie picture quality? Sublime..
