Which Blu-ray movie do you think will be the first to sell 1 million copies? - Blu-ray Forum

Don't know if this should be under blu-ray movies and releases but what ever!

What title do you think will be the first movie to sell 1 million copies? It can be already released titles, upcoming releases, unannounced titles, titles not in theaters or produced yet (for unproduced titles they must be in theaters at the most within 1 1/2 years), or titles from non-supporting blu-ray studios.

I would say maybe 300 because it is still selling really good months later. Maybe there is a title I forgot about.

Across the Universe.

I think for real though that a lot of people like Casino Royale and that's maybe what I bought my PS3 for, and it got a pretty good head start. Maybe wishful thinking or maybe it will one of the Pirates, Spidey's, or a Disney movie like Finding Nemo.

it will be something that is not in theaters yet, maybe harry potter 6. by the time blu-ray can sell a million copies of something 300 will be a catalog release.

The Matrix was the first DVD to sell 3 million copies and that was in 2000, 3 years after the DVD format launched. Not sure which movie was the first DVD to sell a million copies though.

I doubt it. I remember that they made around a million copies of Titanic for the DVD format and it didn't really fly off the shelves. Not that I blame the consumers, the DVD was pretty much a joke. I mean, it wasn't even anamorphic!

This is a tough decision. I was thinking maybe Saving Private Ryan, Transformers, Titanic (didn't care much about this movie), Passion of the Christ (very good possibility), and that's it so far that I can think of.

wow. thats hard to believe. maybe the matrix will do it. if they ever friggin release it on blu!

It's likely the catalogue titles will not sell anywhere near that many copies. It will be some new movie that has yet to be released at the theatres. It's going to take time.

That's if Paramount go Blu-ray exclusive. If it's released as a neutral title, then maybe not.

Interesting theory... perhaps the collapse of the dud and greater BD market penetration could work together and make that possible. It's definitely a title the playstation generation would want to buy (including myself)

transformers would certainly be up there as a title likely to sell 1 mil
