Nice to know that at least the server(s) associated with updates relating to apps/games isn't affected. Both the Netflix app and Killzone 3 had updates ready to go when I booted them up. And no, before everyone starts rushing to their PS3's thinking those two titles have something new added/updated-I hadn't utilized either titles for a couple of weeks now, so updates were due

The network went down about 2 hours before I got out of work the other night when I was going to finally get to play Mortal Kombat. I had all of yesterday off and time earlier today to play. I missed out completely!

Now I'm working for the next 7 days and won't have time to play online anyways. At this point I kind of want it to be out for another week so I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. If I can't play online, nobody can!

Yes, I know I have a jerky mindset. I am only joking though. Half joking.

I was able to get Netflix to work on my ps3. Everytime it would say that I needed to sign in I would just press circle and eventually Netflix loaded up. Has anybody else figured that out yet?

Hey I'm not getting an error code anymore, I get a message saying "PSN is undergoing maintenance" instead haha.

Yup. The browser works too, tho' I'd be hard-pressed to use it since my PC is just 7 feet away from the PS3

Yes. You were the last one to figure that out.

BTW. It works for VUDU as well.

I know people say Sony doesn't owe us anything when this comes back up, but I have a lot of paid services I use through their network, such as netflix and the music site, etc. I hope after this major incident they look at a way to allow users to still access their paid for services that have nothing to do with gaming.

When Netflix went down for one day, they offered a rebate for everyone. It was very small, and I didn't take it, but I appreciated the sentiment. Depending on how much longer this goes on, I don't think it would be unreasonable for Sony to offer a limited time voucher towards a PSN purchase.

Hope it comes back up soon. I expect it will come back up in stages when it does to keep everyone from logging in at once.

Really crazy to see something like this happen.

Yeah right. They can't even fix whatever it is, let alone add something else.

What is his source/reasoning? Or just speculation? At this point I would probably believe it. No way it goes up Sunday and I doubt it goes back up tomorrow.

News? From Sony? Good one. They suck at keeping consumers informed on what is going on/why something happened. On one hand I would rather them NOT tell me it's going to be tonight and then say it won't, but on the other hand I'd like to at least know WHY it's down or what they're doing if they don't know.

It works the same way it did with the disc, it uses your internet connection, not the PSN to connect. It may need to have you sign in to check for a software update from PSN. Same, of course, with the web browser.

If I would have bought the new MK game already and then this happened I would be going furious. I don't think it will be back up until next week, especially with it being Easter weekend. Sony is gonna have to do major PR control over this.

That's awfully noble of you, actually. I mean, I don't know you personally, but not many people would turn down something that was offered to them if they deserved it (or at least a case could be made for them deserving it).

I really like your idea of a limited-time voucher. As a PS+ member and user of many paid apps through their network I would appreciate that very much. I don't think it's reasonable to expect a free game or anything, but even a free movie rental would be much appreciated. At this point, I just want to see an effort on Sony's part.

If anyone has subscribed to Netflix for any period of time they can probably remember receiving a credit to their account. I've been a member for less than a year, but have already received about 4 automatic credits to my account for perceived connectivity issues with their streaming media. I never experienced a problem and never said anything about it. And yet, Netflix is proactive and offers this to its customers. It really leaves me feeling good about them as a company. Something that certainly cannot be over-valued these days.

MS had some that when XBL went down during the holiday of 08 (I believe or it could have been 07). Sony could do that, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
