I buy and sell a lot of gaming items and have been scammed quite a few times. I think games tend to garner a younger audience which leads to more scamming.

I bought some fake gameboy advance games from ebay last year without knowing it, they were a small surprise gift for my fiancee as she really loves all the old donkey kong and Mario games, she was quite disappointed about them being fakes. The seller didn't even know herself, she bought them off of eBay about a year earlier and didn't know she had been conned. She was very accommodating and gave me a refund straight away. I ended up getting genuine cartridges of the games from other sellers, which took a bit of effort as there are so many fake gameboy advance games on eBay.

How do you mean this? I don't use eBay often, but I'm curious as to what kinds of scams are out there...

It's not something i want to broadcast but i guess it doesn't matter, basically you can buy something on ebay doesn't matter what it is. You get said item in the mail you go to paypal and say it was the wrong item or anything else you want. "PAYPAL" will review your case then say ok if you return the item you will get a refund. So you send back whatever you want. and keep the item you got. And PayPal will favor in your case so you keep the item and you get your money back. This has happend to me TWICE. One person just sent me back a few magazines and another person sent me back his junk mail. I got scammed out of about $150 dollars worth of gaming stuff and the other were some game codes for redeeming a in game item. Never sell codes on ebay, someone can buy them "SAY THEY NEVER USED THEM" and tell ebay they were the wrong codes and just send you back the just voucher while still using the codes... Ebay is a crap shoot...

I actually called the local police dept's and the postoffice in there area and they said there was nothing they could do it's he said she said and the people were simply to far away from me to bother with a $150 dollar item etc...

Wow wtf people are scum. Did you take pictures of the package and items those people sent back to you to show PayPal? That's being scammed on the highest level. Sorry to hear that happened to you.

Some good news: The seller refunded the money for the modem and paid my return shipping cost. I'm glad that's over with.

If you got THIER junk mail, then you should have had a case against them. At least, if it had their information on it.

Didn't have any info on it, it was just like pizza ads etc... This was a couple years ago and trust me i tried a lot. I took pictures of the magazines and sent them to pay pal but they just didn't care. Told me he said she said... Police Dept told me the same thing for the most part. Ebay is kind of a honour based system is a sense.

Yeah there are many scammers out there that do that. They write in tiny words that all you are getting is the pictures and unsuspecting people just take a quick glance and think they are getting a good deal. It also happens with video games systems. I remember people where buying Wii boxes( yeah that's right just the box) for $400+ because they thought it was the game system.

And here weeeee gooooo..........

Two items I won from eBay were showing up as being delivered (USPS) on Monday. However, nothing was in my mailbox.

I called the post office yesterday. Ends up that our normal postman was off for whatever reason, so they sent someone else.....who obviously delivered it somewhere else. I explained to the employee where our house was, etc. and from her reaction she knew the guy delivered it to the wrong house. She said: "We'll send him over to the other house to check". Yeah sure. Never heard back from them.

I just got off the phone with them a few mins. ago and the same lady started to act a bit combative with me. She said she had the postman check our house (never saw anyone) and the other house, quote: "rang their doorbell but no answer" and basically said there's nothing they can do because the packages are showing up as delivered in their system.

So, I hit her back with: "But you had him check another house showing there was an error on his part" She then became very quiet. lol Told me she's going to forward it to her supervisor.

I've never had this happen before with the Post Office. Has anyone? If so, how did you resolve it? I'm not about to lose $50 worth of items without a fight. Uneffingbelievable.
