[Show spoiler]Kaz Hirai will be holding a press conference tomorrow from Sony Japan, to address the PlayStation Network hacking crisis.

The conference will be held at 2PM Japan time, which means a lovely 12 midnight time for those in New York and 5AM the next day for those in London.

It is expected that Hirai will announce a new PlayStation Network security system, and when PSN will be live for users to enjoy. He also may announce what sort of compensation Sony will offer.

I would laugh for days if that's what they said. At least we'd know they were being honest though. "It'll be around 2 days" became "it'll be about 4 days" which became "it'll be about a week" which became "hopefully May 3rd".

Not looking good.

I'll be rather annoyed if he comes out and talks for say 30 min and at the end there's absolutely no new info. I don't think that's a high possibility, but I'm not getting my hopes up for anything great in this presser.

Well said. Looking at it now everythings settled down a bit it's not as bad as it seems and it doesnt look like CC data was stolen and it was encrypted even if it was.

And on the case of Sony anouncing a date for PSN to be back online, I'd rarther not know until the very last minute.

Saves having to hear about people moaning that they keep pushing the date back.

Not that it matters, but I only remember seeing the "2 day" and "week of may 2nd" statements.

Wrong. It was only a couple of days. Not 11 and they gave a free XBL game (Undertow) because of it.

1) That would be the funniest moment of 2011.

2) I wouldn't hold my breath with home being out of beta (even though it's trash anyway IMO).

The conference takes place at 2:00 PM in Tokyo (1:00 AM EST/10:00 PM PST).

No, it was out for close to 2 weeks. Just google XBox Live outage 2007, and you'll find multiple sources.

I remember it was out for about 13 days.

But I did get an extension 13 days for xbox live and a free online game as a result.

I hope Sony does the same.

It wasn't down, it was spotty/unstable but not down. It was due to amount of new XBL accounts being created from people getting 360's for Christmas.

Xbox Live outage, day 13: still up and down, still preventing fun from being had

To all those who've been tipping us like crazy about Xbox Live going back down again: yeah, we heard, and we know you're not happy. If you're having problems (or even if you're not), feel free to let us know in comments. Almost two weeks of outages, yeesh.

To all those sick of hearing about Xbox Live being up and down: feel free to stop reading here, there will be another news story along in a few minutes. But do remember that Xbox Live is possibly the most widely used paid gaming service in the world, so forgive us for keeping close tabs on this story. Mwah!

From what I remember, I was able to log on. I was one of the very few lucky ones (not that I did much since very few people were one). Anyway, we're getting way off topic now. Hopefully, Kaz will have some answers and updates as to what's going on (not that I'm too concerned since I don't pay for PSN thakfully).
