Hoy encontré en un Mixup esta gran película del maestro Peter Greenaway en un Blu-ray de Zima Entertainment. Lo que no sé es si se trata de un sobreescalado de terrible calidad o algo similar. ¿Alguien de aquí la ha visto? Desde que tengo Blu-ray he querido películas de Greenaway en HD, pero no me quiero llevar una decepción.

Ese es mi temor también. Esta película la vi hace muchos años pero aun la tengo fresca en la retina. Es de las pelis que no se olvidan (de hecho ninguna peli de Greenaway es fácil de olvidar)

Aunque por el otro lado el BD cuesta sólo 8 pesos (menos de 1 dólar) mas que el DVD! Muy tentador.

Ojalá Zima también pudiera editar en Blu-ray alguna otra de las obras de Greenaway como Prospero's Books, The Belly of an Architect, Drowning by Numbers, The Draughtman's Contract, etc.

Zima acaba de editar en DVD The Falls y A Zed & Two Noughts pero no fueron lanzadas en Blu-ray así que supongo que esas dos no entran en los planes de Zima para ser lanzadas en BD.

Por cierto acabo de leer que Peter Greenaway va a filmar una película en mi ciudad, se llamaría "Eisenstein en Guanajuato". Suena MUY interesante

Hi all,

Firstly, I just found out what film this is, and suffice it to say, I'm very interested in picking this Mexican BD up, unless the quality is lacking. My Spanish is non-existent, so would someone mind offering their thoughts on the A/V quality and specs in English?

Also, if the disc is good, I have an ordering question:

I've never bought from Mexico before, and Mixup is charging me MXN $419 (US $36) with $238 (US $21) of that going to shipping to the USA. Is there any way I could get the disc any cheaper? Could we do a group buy or something?

Pues terminé por comprar la película, no resistí la tentación. El audio es estéreo, pero la imagen sí parece ser 1080p nativo. El master se ve un poco viejo, y la imagen no es tan clara como en un lanzamiento de, digamos, Criterion. En verdad está muy lejos de ser de lo mejor, me recordó un poco a la calidad de '12 Monkeys', pero por el precio y la calidad siento que vale la pena. En verdad creo que es la mejor calidad que he visto en una película de Greenaway, y aunque sí deseo que más adelante sean lanzadas versiones de mucho mayor calidad de todas sus cintas, por el momento estoy satisfecho con el lanzamiento.

No tiene extras, y sólo cuenta con subs en español.

I'm not sure, since my receiver isn't Lossless compatible and the box doesn't say anything about it, but if I had to bet I'd say it's just Dolby Digital.

No problem. For what it's worth, I think the disc probably isn't worth all the import fees and such, unless you really love Greenaway or the film itself. I'm sure I'll end up double dipping as soon as a better transfer with nicer audio and some extras comes up, but right now I'm in heaven just knowing I get to watch this amazing movie in HD. I hope some more, better HD releases of Greenaway's films pop up soon anywhere in the world, because I don't care if I have to import/buy a multi-region player. I'm getting them as soon as they're available.

The same label also released Nightwatching some time later, but that release is 1080/50i and it doesn't include any of the previous extras (the US/UK DVD is stacked).

Park Circus will also be releasing The Pillow Book in the UK shortly, but regional coding and extras are not yet known.

Habrá que pedirles que nos den su opinion a Albino Priest o Cuau-cg quuienes han comprado el disco.

Yo tuve entre mis manos este disco hace unos días pero no lo compré. En la contraportada decía 1080i y audio 2.0 (Que según nos han confirmado es Dolby Digital).
Los títulos de Zima NO suelen incluir extras más allá de el trailer, galería de fotos y nimiedades de ese tipo.

En vista de lo anterior "supongo" que la compra es recomendada SOLO para los que sean muy fanáticos del cine de Greenaway y/o para los que no quieran esperar a la eventual edición británica o a que Anchor Bay la edite en BD (asumiendo que aun posean los derechos de este título), lo cual puede ser pronto o tardar muuucho tiempo. Es un volado.

Bueno, en la caja lo que dice es 1080p a 23.98 FPS. El disco es bare-bones y el audio es, en efecto, Dolby Digital 2.0 únicamente. Yo lo recomendaría sobre todo a aquellos que no tengan ninguna copia de la película, o que quieran ver la cinta en HD, pero estoy seguro que saldrá una versión de mayor calidad en el futuro, y que no será una edición mexicana. El precio es razonable, y la película pues... me imagino que si están interesados, no necesitan un comentario al respecto.

He visto miles de transfers de video mejores, pero si lo que desean es esta película en una calidad de imagen relativamente alta, sin importar el audio ni los extras, adelante. Yo no me arrepiento en lo absoluto de haberlo comprado, pero tampoco es que no me dé cuenta de las deficiencias del lanzamiento. Sólo estoy feliz de tenerla en mi colección, pero sigo alerta a la aparición de una versión más digna.
